Default Holiday 2012 Movie/TV Show Marathon

Kinda like the 31 Days of Halloween, but for Christmas/Holiday movies and TV shows.

Post what you watch here!

I kinda like watching Disney animated classics (DACs) at this time of year, and I'm giving a chance to some of the sequels this time around. So I kicked off this year with...

Recent viewings in Bold:

1. Pocahontas
2. Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World
3. Bambi
4. Bambi II

Pocahontas and Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World

Pocahontas: I really like the design of the forests and landscape in this one. Music is good. Story may have used a little impreovement in some areas but otherwise it's good.
Pocahontas II: First time watching a DTV Disney sequel. It's bad, but not entirely awful. It is a little sad to see decently designed characters having to put up with Saturday morning cartooon calibre animation.

Bambi

I like to watch Bambi at this time of year probably because I pretty much grew up in a forested area and spent a lot of time in the bush in the autumn. Always loved Bambi since I was a kid. Loved how Walt's animators designed the forest. The animation is truly a work of art on this one. Always loved the April Showers sequence with all the water droplets. What amazes me is animators these days don't take a risk and make something a little bit more artsy to appeal to all ages (like in the Walt era). Seems like all animation coming out of the Mouse House these days has to be targeted mainly to hyperactive children.

Bambi II

First time seeing this one and it's not that bad. I actually thought this one would be a whole lot worse. The animation doesn't feel as much as a Saturday morning cartoon on this one (it's more fluid and not so choppy like Pocahontas II). And Captain Picard voices the great prince of the forest - who I met this year at the local comic con! Hope to meet Sir Patrick Stewart again one day, a very nice gentleman and he had some great stories to share.
