Hello, I wonder if anyone knows whether the improved resolution of the Blu Ray picture will allow you to have a larger screen size than with previous formats.
I currently have a 42" TV at a viewing distance of roughly 3 metres. The picture is very clear at that distance but any closer and you start to see the individual scan lines and pixels etc. I wanted to get a 60" panel but the representative at the Sony Centre said that at that distance the picture would look worse than my current set. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. |

It's all based on the actual quality of the set and proportional viewing distance.
The only way his advice makes sense would be if you bought a huge screen like that and were sitting way too close to it. It would look bad and very likely make your eyes bleed. ![]() Check these out: http://www.myhometheater.homestead.c...alculator.html http://www.myhometheater.homestead.c...ncemetric.html http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/IS...me/tv_faq.html http://www.practical-home-theater-gu...-distance.html http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-7608_7-1016109-2.html http://tv.about.com/od/frequentlyask...ngdistance.htm http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/art...rticle_id=1137 http://www.hometheatersound.com/feat...n_20040501.htm |

Best thing you can do is go into a store that has the kind of TV's you're interested in and stand/sit at roughly the viewing distance you are going to use at home and see how it looks to you. If your eyes feel like they're going to bleed, that means the screen is probably a li'l too big. ![]() |
