Default HDMI/HDTV connection does not fit the screen on my HTPC

I just bought the Nvidia 8800GTS, which allowed for HDMI/HDCP connectivity to my samsung 1080P DLP. Picture quality is significantly better than the VGA connection i previously had, but the problem is that the Desktop is too big and doesn't fit within the TV screen. I can't see the Start/task on windows nor can i see the tool bar on PowerDVD at the bottom of the screen. I have tried to adjust the screen area using the NVIDIA utility HDTV "fitter" and hit the "apply" button, but no change! Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have a HTPC
8800GTS 640MB through DVI/HDMI adapter
PowerDVD 7.3 Blu-ray/HD-DVD version Deluxe
4 GB of Ram
AMD X2 3800 processor
X-Fi Fatality Soundcard
Samsung 50" DLP/HDMI

it doesn't go any higher than 1920 * 1080... it's an HDTV, which is it's current setting

You gotta go into the the menu settings and set it pixel for pixel. Call up Samsung for help I had to call up sharp and sony to get my other TV's working right.
