Default Are Vizios good 3D TVs?

I'm looking to get a 3D TV and am currently looking at E3D470VX simply because it's $600 and I don't have a ton of money. But I don't want to rush out and pay for a crap TV. I really want to see if it's worth it. I read a review that praised the hell out of the TV but am wondering if that was just one person's opinion.

Also, and a side note I am wondering if I'll have to buy a new receiver. My current one doesn't support 3D since it was manufactured before 3D TVs. Can I still use my current receiver or not?

I am not sure of the quality of Vizio TV's, but I can answer the second part.

If your receiver does not support HDMI 1.4 then it will not pass the 3D signal to your TV. So yes you can still use it but you wont be able to use the 3D function of your TV.

I was thinking about getting the E3D420..heard very good reviews for it. But shoot..I might just pay the extra cash for the 47 :-) Hoping to get something soon within the next couple of months.

Me too. I don't want to make a rash decision though. I've been reading good reviews on this TV. I never really wanted a 3D TV, I just don't think the technology will last, but hearing the review of Creature From the Black Lagoon has been swaying me. And the fact that Dial M for Murder is coming out in 3D makes me want it as well. Using 3D TVs for movies that were intended for 3D is the right way to go.

Anyway, I need to be spending probably close to $1000 on the TV and new receiver. So that kind of sucks, but whatever. I want to do it.

Sorry about my rambling

I've been looking at the 47' Vizio 3DTV for a while now. I am curious if anyone owns it. I'm in need for a new TV in the "man cave" and would love to get a 3DTV by hopefully the end of January.

The only negative I have heard about the tv is the sound quality. Everything else is very good. A soundbar or home theater system fixes that problem though :-)

From what I been hearing and have read Vizio HDTV's are getting better and better every year. My first HDTV was a Vizio years ago and it was a disaster! But hey things have changed for them big time since then. Would I personally ever own a Vizio again? No but thats just me. Hell I dont plan on buying another HDTV anytime soon period.

Same thing I've heard as well. Good Picture Quality, but subpar sound. But then, that tends to be the same for most HDTVs without external speakers.
