Default 2013 New Year's Resolutions / Goals

if, you know, we make it to 2013

seeing as it is December 1st, i thought it would be fitting to start thinking of goals for the next year...
  • exercise at least 30 minutes a day, 4 or 5 days a week (GOAL: continue this goal)

  • donate more money and time to my local Humane Society. i absolutely love animals, and i'm planning on donating my Christmas bonus to them, but i want to start helping out more often, even if it's just once a month. (GOAL: donate some money / time at least once a month)

  • read more! books, magazines, graphic novels, anything and everything! i used to LOVE reading as a kid, and somewhere along the lines i stopped completely. bought a Kindle, but after stopping at the bookstore today i realized that as great as the Kindle is, i get more submersed in books when i have actual pages and such. sounds weird, but hey, that's me. (GOAL: read at least one book a month)

  • continue to eat healthier (GOAL: continue this goal)

  • pay off at least $4,500 from my car loan. right now my car loan balance is $8,900 and i've paid off $2,900 in 3 months, so $4,500 should be doable. at the very least, continue to pay an extra $150 over my minimum monthly balance due. GOAL: continue this goal)

  • have no late bills! GOAL: continue this goal - so far so good for all years that i've had bills to my name!)

  • limit wasting money (i.e. foolish purchases). every year i probably spend $1,000 or so on senseless purchases - clothes, movies, random crap at a store, too much food at a restaurant, grocery food i never end up eating, et cetera. (GOAL: less impulse purchases)

  • limit wasting time. this is mostly spending less time on the internet. amazing how much time i lose to the internet. and while the majority of the internet use isn't wasteful and kind of relaxing, sometimes i find myself reading comments on articles and getting consumed in the stupidity of it all. (GOAL: put this time towards something worthwhile)

  • learn a new language. in my ever expanding career, it certainly wouldn't hurt to learn a language or two. thinking about starting with Spanish since i still remember some of that from my high school days. (GOAL: buy a book or program to begin learning a new language)

  • spend more time with my family. i used to avoid my family like the plague in a typical angsty teenager way. the last three years though i've gotten a lot closer to them and since we have a very large family (lots of cousins, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles) there's always something going on i can take part in. (GOAL: relax, enjoy and spend time with family outside of holidays)

  • remember how lucky i am each and every day. for not going to college i have certainly turned my life into a massive success and it just as easily could have gone down a different road had i stayed the dipsh*t little turd i was for most of my teenage / early adulthood. no matter how hectic, stressful or angry a day at the office gets - i have that options BECAUSE I HAVE A JOB AND A CAREER. people without jobs and careers cannot get stressed or angry at work because they don't have one! every day i try and remember that. i am very grateful - along with a small dose of great timing, luck and a vast amount of work ethic and ability - to be where i am in my life. and every day i do my best to remember it could be so, so, so much different (i.e. worse). (GOAL: continue this goal)

  • save, save, save, $$$, $$$, $$$. i'm pretty good at saving, but i can do better. i've maxed out my 401K contribution (after tax addition so when i retire i don't pay taxes on it! ) along with the employer contribution, but along with another goal of spending less money on thoughtless things, money can go to this category. can never save too much. (GOAL: continue this goal)

so, what are your goals?

Well, based on the time left this year, it's possible I'll have to carry over my 2012 goal of finding/getting a boyfriend.
Then finish ER - The Complete Series DVD
Go to Germany - SW Celebration Europe II
Go to Egypt (if possible) or Japan
Maintain current weight or build muscle... (I should be doing the latter actually)

Keep working out every day. It was gonna be a new year's resolution but right after Halloween I figured I could start early.

You pretty much described all my goals exactly! Kinda creepy, actually...

Seriously, everything you just said, minus the new language and car loan.

Man, 2012 was not a good year for me so I hope 2013 will be better. Here are my goals for next year:
  • Be a more confident, humble person in life

  • Be a lot nicer and more respectful to others around me, especially my friends and family

  • Trim down a bit on my weight. My target weight for next year is around the 150's.

  • Be more outgoing and social with friends and family

  • Be more task-oriented and organized in my school work

  • Get truly prepared for college by working on lots of scholarships

  • Stop being so superstitious about astrology and other stuff

  • Forget the past, focus on the future, and move on

  • Be tactful; Learn to think before I speak and filter all the bad words in my head

  • Learn to let go of a lot of insecurities such as jealousy, possessiveness, hatred, etc.

  • Learn to be more forgiving towards others

  • Get back to doing old hobbies that I used to love, such as watching anime, TV shows, etc.

  • Learn to embrace sports by trying out for tennis or track

  • Teach myself to think faster by working harder

  • Most of all, learn to be thankful for everything I have and adopt a positive attitude and outlook in life. I've been pessimistic and depressed throughout the year, and it's been so hard to get myself up. I really want to reinvent myself next year so I'm willing to achieve most, hopefully all of my goals for 2013.

I am glad to know that you have already set your goals and are working for it. Apart from setting our goals and following it seriously, we should also have a vision in our life, This is again an important topic to discuss. This will be our long term goal and achievement in life.

I have one goal (well two really, but one new one)

My goal is the same as just about every other red blooded person......to get in better shape! I did a real good job all last summer working out......We did the Tough Mudder competition, got in shape for that, after we did it, I quit working out......I'm gonna do another Tough Mudder again, so I have some motivation!

My "second" goal is the same as every other year....SAVE MONEY! =)
