hey all!
Mike here. anyway, I live in the basement, and have been using an old 'tube-tv for a year now. we've got a 42 inch or whatever upstairs, 1080p and all, but since I'm still living at home that tv is used by my family. Now, I have my 'very own' set ![]() the question is........... WHAT SHOULD I WATCH FIRST?!?!!?!?!? (after calibration, of course!) I probably already have an idea somewhere in my head as to what movie will be first, but I'd like your guys' and girls' help in selecting it. if nothing else, it's a fun thing to think about the rule it is that it has to be a blu-ray, and i have to already own it (though I may view a Simpsons episode on dvd before a movie on blu, but anyway.....) rather than make you guys go through my list of what i own, i'll just post a short list here. you can take a look and select one, if you wish -- this is all for fun, so only respond if you want to here are the choices so far: 40 Year Old Virgin Inception T2 Dark Knight/DKR/Batman Begins (one of them, mind you) Shaun of the Dead Prometheus Scott Pilgrim Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Fincher) South Park movie I'm also considering Toy Story 1 or 3, an episode from my Futurama vol 5 blu or Simpsons season 13 blu, and maybe Grindhouse. I know it's a pretty big selection, but really I just want to play something that can "help set the tone," and gear me up for less restricted things. Personally, I'm leaning towards Virgin, because it might be a fun way to start this whole new part of my life (lmao ![]() anyway, hope that was all clear. looking forward to any input from you wonderful people ![]() |

Ah the excitement of a new TV. I still remember the moment I plugged in my 1080P LED, the beauty of Burton's Alice In Wonderland on the screen. Brings a smile to my face.
Anyways, for the sheer beauty show off the TV factor, I would go 1. Prometheus 2. TGWTDT |

I've always been let down straight out of the box. I'd grab a few titles to calibrate (something Pixar and something with a lot of blacks), until you get something you like. If you have a calibration disc, even better.
Don't just throw in something you want to watch out of the box, or you'll be fiddling with the settings the entire time, rather than watching the movie. Personally, I'd go for something new that you haven't watched yet. A new TV is a good opportunity to splurge on a new release. |

yes yes, i know it's covered, but this is where i feel ~comfortable~. anyway, antoine those are good tips. i'll probably use disk 1 of Life (i think that has a calibration section), and then take a look at some scenes from a movie i know well.
i also like your idea of splurging, although i don't have the resources for that seeing as i just got a tv ![]() |
