Default Best receiver for under 1500

I have it narrowed down to pioneer sc65 and onkyo 818. What do you guys think? Also what is the difference between onkyo 818 and onkyo 1010. Is there sound quality difference or just features difference?
It will be for 95 percent movie watching and 5 percent music. I also will be getting B&W cm9s and cmc2 for center.

The 818 is the better choice than Pioneer. The 818 features plenty of power,
audyssey xt32 which is far superior to mcaac. Mcaac has not been changed since 2004. I know 2 die-hard pioneer elite fans personally that have switched to the 818 and will never go back to Pioneer unless they fix Mcaac.

The 1010 difference is power amd thx ultra instead of select.

The only downside I see is that Onkyo does not have 4k pass through, only has 4k up scale.

For under 1500, I would look a little higher than those.

You could get the Emotiva UMC-200 Processor for $599 and the UPA-700 Amplifier for $429.

The UMC supports 3d, but I don't believe it supports 4K. Unless you have 4K right now, which seems unlikely, you can upgrade the processor later while keeping the amplifier. Emotiva offers an upgrade program so you could receive a discount on the new amplifier if/when you wanted to upgrade to 4k.

Perhaps look at NAD as they allow the selected device to pass through its information, rather than the receiver doing the work
