United Kingdom Saving Private Ryan officially recalled & Info

Paramount Home Entertainment announced today that it's recalling the Sapphire Series edition released in North America, the United Kingdom and some other territories due to the audio synch error.

In a press release, Paramount stated that the glitch occurred during Technicolor's authoring process and was not detected prior to replication. That confirms some reports we've heard that on some discs, the sound goes wrong at around chapter 15 and gets worse as the movie goes on.

If you find that your Blu-ray edition of Saving Private Ryan has this problem, you can contact Technicolor directly via phone or email to find out how to receive a replacement copy.

U.K Phone Number: 08000-852-613.
E-mail: savingprivateryan.recall@technicolor.com
You can also return it to the store where you bought it and they will exchange it for a good one. According to Paramount, the new, error-free discs will be available at retail no later than next Tuesday, May 18.

State Address and where you purchased the Blu-Ray from.

I got an email too. I wouldn't think this was amazons doing though, paramount probably are doing a returns program for every store.

As well as the audio sync problems, there are video problems on the disc too around the same time. The brightness goes up and down a lot in some scenes. Hope the recall sorts this too.

So do I literally just e-mail my postal address to savingprivateryan.recall@technicolor.com

They don't need to know where I bought it, order no etc, right?

HMV sent me an email about it (as thats where i got my SPR from), they said to contact Technicolor's phone number or their email address (savingprivateryan.recall@technicolor.com).

I sent an email to them requesting a replacement, and including my name and address etc.

I never actually noticed any problems when watching it first time round, and nore did i notice it yesterday when i put it at the time people say the problem starts, but i thought i might aswell get it sorted now, just in case i change any of my setup that might make it noticable in the future.

They must be getting bombarded with e-mails and phone calls and rightly so. I don't really know if retailers know what is happening as SPR was still in the supermarkets and HMV today. If they were recalled you would think they'll pull them from the shelves?

It may be a problem getting a different copy from a retailer, you will probably need to print out the press release!

Hi all I rang the number as well and I had two options them sending me a pre paid envelope and me sending the disc to them and once they receive it they will send me out a new disc so all this will take time maybe over 1 week.
Or take it back to the shop HMV where I bought it on tue 18th and swap the disc case packaging for a new one. I'm going to pop in it's quicker that way.

I see that Amazon have took it off their site, whilst Play show a 6-8 week dispatch estimation. HMV still have it on their site.I think this will cause a fair bit off confusion with consumers. It a royal **** up by Paramount... i hope they learn to double check then triple check

Oh well at least its finally getting sorted

I noticed this also but it's intended, use of some kind of special filter, same as can be seen in Star Trek 2009

personally I didn't like these special light effects...

Just rang my local HMV and they've suggested I bring it in next week for a refund. I said I'd hang on to it and bring it in when they've got stock in (he doesn't seem to know anything about it being back in stock on Tuesday), and he even suggested that if it takes some time, then they might not do a refund. Hmmm, I'm not so sure they've really got a leg to stand on there, and if I went back and they took that line, I think I'd be taking a very strong line with them and insisting on speaking to a manager, and, making a big fuss in store.

I really hope they dont need me to send the disc back to them..

Disney/Buena Vista just needs a proof of purchase and they send you the new disc

I watched this today and found no audio problems. Where in the film does it happen the most?
