Haven't seen the film, but still great news that Optimum is bringing a catalogue Studio Ghibli film to Blu-ray. Hopefully this means that they'll start rolling them all out over time, and that the likes of Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away aren't too far away.

Since it's Optimum, it will most likely be locked to region "B". That will also prevent people in Japan from importing a cheaper UK disc.

Sweet!

I wonder if it'll be anything similar to the Japanese release. Looks like it has good quality.

Actually, other than a few dodgy releases in the past, Optimum haven't been too bad IMO. Usually discs free of extras, but decent enough presentations.

Yep, thats a bit of a downer for all us who have a Region A BD player.

Let's hope Disney start releasing more Miyazaki films on Blu.

Remind me never to pre-order from Play.com again: Amazon.co.uk have finally got it available for pre-order, just 6 days to go, and for about £5 less than Play. I log into Play.com to cancel my order there and – I <sarcasm>can't</sarcasm> think why – Nausicaä is apparently now "packing" and cannot be cancelled, while another BD in the order that is released on the same day (and which has been known about and up for pre-order for much longer notice) remains merely "pre-ordered."

My copy, priced at £10.99 which i pre-ordered when it first appeared there, has also gone into packing so maybe they just got them early. Not that I'd stick up for play.com or anything...

I got the Japanese release of Nausicaa, but I'm thinking it might be smart to wait for a UK release of Laputa: Castle in the Sky since it would be so much cheaper.

Just took a trip into Dublin HMV to pick this up. Price was 29 Euros, so I'll be getting this online at almost a third of that price -cheeky beggars!
