Default Xbox360 add on can connect to PC

http://www.hdtvuk.tv/2006/10/xbox_hd_dvd_dri.html

Not sure what the article means about storage device as it read only, but is this potentially a worry for the movie studios? A drive with no copyright protection at all, hooking up via USB to any PC? How long before someone creates a means to rip the content from HD-DVDs...

Or am I barking up the wrong tree, would any HD drive offer the same potential piracy issue?

The drive does not support HDMI, and it can be used only as a dumper/ripper.
Soon Universall studio will cry big for their decision to support this looser format (HD DVD)...

The studios will be turning on the ICT flag really quick with this one. That is for the HD-DVDs.

That's the real catch isn't it?

For both formats. Whoever is stuck using component video only for HD has to know they're living on the edge and on borrowed time.

Re: Living on the "mercy" of the studios. Not a nice gambit.

It's not a question of "if", but ultimately "when" that BS ICT flag gets thrown down.

This is one of my 4 major reasons for not purchasing the HDDVD add on anymore.

the second is,
2) Not sure about the quality (360 dvd playback is subpar with grey blacks)

3rd) No way for advanced audio playback

4th) not investing anymore money in this format than I have to, IE aside from Universal My purchases will mainly be for Blu Ray going forward.

I had read your thread at HD-DVD.com and agree with you 100 percent.

I'm done with HD-DVD until when/if they get some quality home theater hardware from grade A CE companies. No old laptop parts anywhere in the machine, either.
