Default Need help connecting a soundbar to my television and PS3.

I have this television, this soundbar and a slim PS3. I know I can connect it with an optical cable but I'm not sure how. My PS3 is hooked up via HDMI so can I just hook the soundbar into the television via the optical cable? Any help would be much appreciated and thanks in advance!

I found the composite cable that came with my PS3 and was able to connect it with that. Would an optical connection sound better though?

I'm thinking HDMI from PS3 to the TV then Optical from TV to the surround bar. Set the PS3 to LPCM out for audio. This should give you any audio from TV to surround bar (such as other components attached to the TV via digital connection... HDMI , digital coaxial , optical.)The TV should pass a digital signal.

You also could HDMI from PS3 to TV and PS3 optical to surround bar(set the PS3 to LPCM).
This should give you only audio from PS3 to surround bar but none from the TV.

Thanks a lot, Remo. I don't currently have an optical cable but I plan on buying one later this week. I do have a question though (for anyone willing to answer, not just Remo). I currently have the soundbar hooked up to my PS3 via composite cables and there is a bit of audio lag between the television and the soundbar. I'm assuming this is because I am using an analog source instead of a digital source. Would the optical cable fix that?
