Default Most dissapointing BD transfer, and why?

Just re-watching 'Color of money',and I must say that the transfer and audio is the most dissapointing transfer to BD I have seen. It's just about my favourite movie ever, and it looks like an average DVD movie on my television Anyone know if a new transfer is due?

What is your dissapointments?

RoboCop is the worst transfer of all time, with Die Hard 1 & 2 a close second and third respectively.

Out of all the BDs I've seen, it's got to be 28 Days Later. I have better looking DVDs.

Most disappointing? The first Terminator.

I went into it knowing the transfer sucked but I saw it on sale somewhere for five bucks and thought 'what the hell, the transfer can't be that bad'.

It was.

28 Days was shot on consumer grade standard definition home video cameras to achieve the look desired by the director. A blu-ray cannot look better than it's source material.

Couldn't disagree with you more on that one, I thought it looks rather good for a film of it's age & budget, yes it could be better, but for now it will most certainly do.

+1

I hear this all of the time regarding this movie, but there is only so much that can be done given it's source material.

I've heard. But the last 10 minutes of the movie look phenomenal on blu-ray. It's funny.

Not so much about the transfer, but the movie. I think Color of Money is one of most disappointing sequel in the history of cinema more so then Godfather, part 3.

I love The Hustler, in my opinion, Newman's greatest film. Jackie Gleason as Minnesota Fats and George C Scott as Bert Gordon makes this film a classic.

When I saw the thread title The Color of Money was the first thought that crossed my mind. It is the very definition of "horrible transfer". Actually, the DVD might look better. Sadly, the only "crime" worse than the Blu transfer is that there doesn't seem to be any plans to rectify it, and I doubt there will be since this "25th Anniversary Edition" was just released last summer. Oh well, at least The Hustler got a magnificent transfer ...

If you say Color of money is flawed,I would agree, but most dissapointing sequel ever...You can't have seen Die hard 2 Think CoM is a prime example of how to edit a movie. And tell me Newman wasn't top-notch in CoM!

Agree to dissagree I guess...

Agree on the Hustler having a stellar transfer.I am not holding my breath on a new transfer of CoM though.

I was watching the 2004 The Punisher not too long ago and other than a few things, it looks no better than the DVD. It must've been one of the early Blu-Ray transfers, but still it's disappointing. That movie is what introduced me to the Punisher character and really got me interested in him.

That's because the last 10 minutes was shot using traditional 35mm film.

Kundun!!!!

First Disney are cowards and seem to not want to release the blu-ray in the US market. So the non-existant disk is the worst quality of all.

Second, the limited European release was the single worst abomination ever worse than the original jaggy Dirty Dancing and any other horror disc you can think of like Crash which was a poor DVD upscale that was slightly worse than the DVD. The first 30 minutes or so don't like heavy DNR has been applied they look like heavy DNR has been applied to cel animation!!!! Not kidding! I've seen cel animation that has more surface texture and that isn't even possible! I've seen VHS (not talking S-VHS, talking EP VHS) that have more detail!

Such a horror story I had to skip the import.

A real shame since that movie is one that cries out for the HD image quality and lossless sound.

Dog Soldiers.

No better than the DVD and totally pointless Blu-ray.

Unless you have an accurate recollection of the movie YOU saw in the theater, who s anyone to say? And how do you know the theater you saw it at presented it correctly?

Nice one

Black Christmas (1974)

Seems like every home video release (vhs, laserdisc, DVD) of this classic slasher had it's advantages and disadvantages regarding quality of the transfer. The blu-ray has a few very minor good looking scenes with HD feeling, but not enough to fully satisfy.

Goldeneye - destroyed it with DNR.
The Phantom Menace - destroyed it with DNR.
Attack of the Clones - teal tint and not quite sharp enough.
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - A mixed bag of good and bad looking scenes.
