Default Oppo bdp 93 firmware issue

I had problems playing

The French Connection
And
The Planet of the Apes Collection

I factory reset my Oppo ... Bingo everything is fine. The player had been automatically updating over the internet.

OK. So what is your question or concern? Are you insinuating, the firmware was the source of the problems, you were having with your blu-ray player?

I am insinuating that an update caused problems where none existed before.

It's been a known fact that, firmware updates can periodically cause, and contribute malfunctions to a blu-ray player.

Which is why I never allow a player to update itself automatically.

However if a factory reset cured the alleged problems, it seems the new firmware as such is not to blame. This is a recommended procedure after any firmware update anyway.

My bad then ... I thought the factory reset included resetting the firmware.

I thought I just had to restart the player after an update to the firmware.

Live and learn.
