I've read mostly negative reviews of this film.

And yet it'll still be worth around 10 x as more because it's from Japan. Also, this steelbook looks really nice - typical Japanese. -.- Doubt the UK one will look this good.

I liked this film, no idea why it received negative reviews. Well, except for the fact that the film tries to imply Jessica Biel is hotter than Kate Beckinsale. Sorry, but that's just not true.

It's a dreadful mess of a movie. I cannot bring myself to buy this and I bought Dark Shadows so that's saying something!

Ok that is a bit extreme, I can understand if it may not have worked for you, but it absolutely was NOT a "dreadful mess" as you put it.

For one, it was quite visually impressive. The performances were quite good (especially Beckinsale) and it had quite a few impressive action sequences. It may have lacked the personality of the original, but it was nowhere near as bad as some folks seem to desperately want others to believe.

Not sure how you can say that, it might not be your opinion that it was a 'dreadful mess' but that doesn't mean it wasn't for others

I understand. I just usually reserve that term for films that really are the bottom of the barrell (ex. All Tyler Perry films, ANY film from the "Epic" series, etc.)

IM"H"O it was a terrible mess of a movie. My arms wouldn't be long enough to reach the bottom of the particular barrel this movie resides in....

Dreadful?! Hell no by far. It wasn't amazing but it wasn't sucky neither. It was just OK.

It's a dreadful mess of a movie. IMHO.

I had to go home after the cinema and watch the original just to make the nightmares go away...

Since it's a steelbook, highly doubt it will have a slipcover over it

Slipholder (probably not a full slipcover)

A lot of East Asian releases (mostly Taiwanese steelbooks) have slipholders that are highly desirable on the secondary market. That's one reason why Prometheus (Taiwan) goes for over $100 on eBay (in addition to it coming with an artbook and being limited to 800 copies).

Lately, I thought the steelbooks from Japan don't have slipholders as often as the steelbooks from Taiwan do.

The Korean steelbooks also often come with slipholders. Again, they are often highly sought after and sellout quickly.
