Blu-ray.com Director of the Month - January: Michael Mann

This January we will be starting a new Blu-ray.com challenge: to watch the complete filmography of a great director. We challenge everyone to watch the good and the bad, rewatch the films you've seen multiple times, and for the first time the obscure ones we forget about.

The director we have selected for January will be: Michael Mann.

Your goal will be to watch all of the films he has directed between January 1st through the 31st. He has directed 10 films, so we believe it should be doable. As we go through the month and you watch the films, keep your ongoing list updated on this thread as well as discuss and review the films that you watch.

Each month the thread for the new director will be posted about 10 days before we start so you should have plenty of time to collect the movies and get ready for the marathon! If you don't own some of the movies or able to access them elsewhere, don't forget that your public library is always an option.

Yea baby! I own Heat & Miami Vice on blu already. I need to activate my Netflix streaming acct so I can watch his earlier films and probably have Netflix send me the other blu's that arent on streaming that I dont own. Cant wait to get started with Thief. Got Em!!

Great idea. I own most of his films available on Blu, and the ones i don't aren't hard to find. Just gives me another reason to pick up the ones i don't have...and to pull out my Ali DVD.

For me January became a bad month to do this. If we dont get much activity I was hopin we could postpone it this month and re-start it for February because I really wanna do Mann but this month isnt a good time. Got Em!!
