Australia Off Topic VHS Question

This question relates to VHS videos but I'm in dire need to know the answer.

Many years ago there was a locally made, 4 tape video series called "Carriers - A History of American Aircraft Carriers" . My question is..what would have happened to the master tapes the production house would have used to make this series with and is it possible to find them?

When was it made? If it was from the 1970s--1990s, there's a good chance it was shot on videotape, and if it were locally (Australian) made, it would max out at 576i (PAL) resolution in the first place.

I believe it was made in the 90's and it used all archival footage. According to IMDB it was made in 1990.

Here is a current Australian auction for tape 1 in the series:

These other auctions may be for the same series however this is UK based.

Some of the production information I can recall from memory is that this series (Carriers) may have been produced by AVI (Aviation Video International) which I believe was based in Tasmania and the narration of the series was by Luke Swann who also narrated much of the video series Great Planes, some of which was re-released on DVD by The Discovery Channel.

So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Contact Beyond Home Entertainment. All the AVI stuff was distributed through Magna Pacific IIRC and they did DVD releases for Great Planes. Magna Pacific is now Beyond Home Entertainment so I suspect they'd have the rights to distribute as they do all the Discovery Channel stuff. You may at least be able to find if there are plans for a DVD release or whether the source material still exists.

Speaking of Great Planes, MightyApe has the limited edition 25 disc set for $70. Good price seeing as though it's just about out of stock everywhere and those that do have it are usually selling for around $120.

Thanks Atexp80. I will contact them.

With the 25 disc MigthyApe set I suspect many of these could be the Discovery Channel doco's that were released under the Great Planes title as there were 40 tapes in the original series produced by AVI.
