Default should i trade in the HT800 for the TX605?

when i bought the 800 model, i didn't realized that HDMI does not carry audio (video signal only)
I am sort of picky about surround sound, i don't know if i would benefit alot from switching to the 605. Is there anyone in here who have experience with both and can tell me if is it worth it to switch to TX605?
I currently have optical connection on the HT800 from my PS3. It is okay right now but i heard people on the forum were talking about lossless audio something and i am wondering if it's gonna worth my money to trade it in.
thanks you

If you want to experience all that your PS3 has to offer it would probably make sense to go for a Receiver that accepts multi-channel PCM. So in this case the Onkyo will give you that.

I got the 800 thinking the same thing, not know that the hdmi was just a pass through. It made me mad for months, but it was hard to do anything because of the money. But I did finally a new receiver, I got the pioneer vsx-94thx. And i would say there is a big different between 2 channel lpcm that you get with the 800 to the 7 channels that I now get the the 94. Plus the 94 up scales video. Over all I am very happy with the change that I made, the loseless sound is great.

The short and logical answer is: YES.

If you want to fully enjoy Blu-rays that way they were meant to be viewed and heard, then it is a no-brainer.

You can still do PCM lossless sound with that receiver. I have that system and I'm doing it.(sounds like a Jenny craig commercial). What you will need in order to do that is a Panasonic Blu-ray player for 7.1 lossless audio. The Panasonic Blu-ray player is the ONLY Blu-ray player with 7.1 analog outs. I'm sure there is somebody around here that would trade their Panasonic Blu-ray player for the PS3. The Panasonic Blu-ray player is an excellent piece of equipment. That is if you don't play games.... If you were able to trade somebody then you wouldn't need to save any money for a new receiver. Besides, the Panasonic Blu-ray player decodes everything you'll need and perhaps on the next update we'll have DTS-HDMA.

If you are picky about surround sound, then you need a new player too! I have little faith that the PS3 will decode DTS-MA any time in the near future. If I were you, I would either upgrade the player and reciever right now (I just did and my wallet hurts ) or I would wait a bit and get a new reciever in about a year. Hopefully the PS3 will decode DTS-MA by then. I will say that I am picky about my surround sound as well and I love these new uncompressed audio tracks!! I think it was well worth the money!
