Default Audioquest RCA cables or Emotiva X series RCA?

Hey guys, I know there are all kinds of opinions on cables. I've seen a deal on Audioquest black mamba ll RCA cables for $99 a pair. I would need 2 and a half pairs cause I'm getting a 5 channel NAD amp. You think it's worth it or get Emotiva X-series cables and save the money cause there wouldn't be an audible difference.

Get the Emo cables & save the money. You can save even more by buying from Monoprice & get the RG6U or RG59U cables. They will be just as good.

I have both brands of cable and both are nice. It really comes down to what you are comfortable spending.

Go with the Monoprice. Everything in my rooms are from Monoprice not one single problem. I hear that Bluejean is also a great value.

I agree with Jlafrenz and crazyBLUE it comes down to your spending budget i got the monoprice RG6U & RG59U cables, i bought expensive monster cables and other brands to do comparison my personal experience you will get the same performance, and Monoprice is best bang for your buck i think you get more than what you pay for and they are well constructed that will last you years of outstanding performance.

i don't believe audibly you can tell the difference between any of the ones mentioned. so whatever you feel comfortable buying. i was told that you should spend 10% of your gear total in cables.

Whoever told you that was trying to sell you expensive cables. I don't have a % based rule but in general I get the cheapest stuff that is good quality construction. Of course, this is an area of hot debate amongst "audiophiles" right now.

Not only are the X-Series speaker cables a good value, but their termination kits are as well. When I saw their kits going to $8/set stereo pair I purchased four kits. The original idea was to terminate three Monster THX cables I bought off ebay. The Monster termination kept falling out. Apparently a common issue I wasn't aware of before purchase.

The kit includes four excellent quality Banana plugs, red and black "legs" which cover the wires and shrink tubing to keep everything neat and attractive.

Installation was easy. No soldering required. Each plug is gold-plated and has two set screws to hold each wire. Each finished termination has a quality look and feel.

During installation I noticed two set screw were missing. I contacted Emo and asked if they could send a couple of replacement set screws. They did much better. They duplicated my entire four kit order at no cost. That's customer service. It surprised me at first, but after a few interactions with them I see customer satisfaction is their first priority.

Good high-quality products at more than reasonable prices. I'm a fan.

Default They DO make a huge difference.

If you do not hear the difference in sound using different cables, you are a very lucky person. Then, sure, save your money and get the cheapest stuff available. If you can tell the difference, then you are in over your head. I went through dozens of cables until I found the best combination for my gear. All of them ( power, speaker, XLR, RCA ) can drastically change the sound of the system. You will also need to have separate dedicated power lines for analogue and digital components. The better the system, the more audible is the difference btw cables.
I am talking about separates, of course. If you are using an AVR for music listening then there really isn't much you can improve soundwise

High price doesn't always mean the best sound. What matters is how well a certain cable can play with certain components. I had a 300 dollar Supra speaker cable outperform an 1800 dollar Nordost. Trust your ears, not the price tags or brand names. And you should spend as much on them as you can afford , a cable is nothing less but a COMPONENT of your system, just like a power amp , pre-amp , SACD player or DAC.

I like to use Monoprice or Blue Jeans Cable. Blue Jeans Cable offers three different RCA interconnects from Belden with varying capacitance and shielding.

I would refer you to the http://www.theaudiocritic.com for a really good read on cables and interconnects (specifically articles in issue #16 and #17 free to download or read).

You can make your own informed decision on how you want to spend your money.
