Default Is every movie you purchase Blu-ray?

Hello all! I'm a newbie here just got a ps3 about a month ago, for the purpose of using it as a blu ray player and occasionally for games. I have been collecting regular DVDs for the last couple of years and my collection was going good until people began to borrow and not return and my babies becAme able to put on movies by themselves, destroying most of them to the point of poor playback. I finally decided to give up and start a blu ray collection (technology and most people I know don't have blu ray players at this time persuaded me to take this route). I want to know if you guys only buy blu rays or do you still buy DVDs and only certain titles on blu ray. I am trying to decide whether to go all blu ray or only blu ray for movies that would be best viewed in blu ray. Besides price the only thing I'm torn on is the actual case of DVDs vs blu ray. I have gotten some really good deals on new blu rays off eBay so I rarely pay 30+ for them. Just please offer your advice on this topic.

I won't buy dvd's anymore. I'm spoiled by blu-ray and will only get them from now on.

I'll rent a dvd if I really want to see the movie and the blu-ray isn't available.

Almost. I'll buy a DVD if I can't get the movie on blu-ray and it's a must-have. I also buy a lot of TV on DVD simply because it's expensive enough as it is.

You'll probably still buy som dvd's, simply as they aren't available on blu ray yet. I personally haven't bought a dvd since, as I had all the films I wanted on dvd that have not been released on blu yet. That bieng said, I don't have massive collection like some people here (I only buy, if i'm going to watch it over and over again), otherwise I just rent.

In the last say 14-15 months I've purchased about 6 DVDs, none of which are available on Blu-Ray (In Bruges, Once, Giants Superbowl set, Yankee Stadium Memorial, a season of Scrubs and a season of Rescue Me). I absolutely always buy Blu if I have the option.

Same issues with lending so I don't ever lend either.

I stopped buying DVDs about 4 years ago when I first heard about the high definition formats coming out. I still get some DVDs from the library but I won't be buying any more DVDs unless there is something I must have that wont be coming out on blu-ray.

I still buy DVDs, but I'm heavy into the horror genre and some of the lesser known films most likely will never see the light of day on blu-ray or at least not in the near future.

Everything else if it's on blu ray and it's a good transfer I'm getting it.

I still buy DVD's. I just bought Toy Story, Iron Giant and the Incredibles, as well as some TV shows which are cheap plus not available on blu. Season 1 of 'Breaking Bad', for example.

Once I knew that an HD format was coming around the corner, I stopped buying immediately.

The only time I still buy a movie on DVD is if it's new and for some reason doesn't come out on Blu Ray. Like In Bruges for example.

At first I thought, 'Oh I'll still buy regular drama's and stuff on DVD because I don't need that good of PQ for people just talking, I'll only buy cool action movies on Blu Ray'

That probably lasted all of... never. With Amazon having pretty much any Blu for about $15 a month or so after it comes out there's just no reason to buy DVD any more.

The only dvd's that I purchase now are Steelbooks and for the cases only, I give the actual discs to my nephews. Haven't bought a dvd for viewing since October 2007. Time to move onwards and upwards. Dvd's are so Sergio Tacchini.
