Default Riddick Box Set - 3/22/11

Riddick Collection Blu-ray

Riddick Collection Blu-ray Review

FYI:

For those who do not own any of the Riddick movies on blu this is a good way to get the films at a low price. For those who already have the 2 films and where considering a double-dip to have the animated Dark Fury in 1080p, DON'T BOTHER! It's just the DVD version only. Just check out the back cover:

I see both include the Unrated cuts. I've never seen those, nor have I seen TCOR at all. I've only seen Pitch Black. Are the Unrated cuts better? Or to rephrase, "Much of a difference"?

That's disappointing news on Dark Fury. Thanks for the heads up though, OP.

I have

the unrated cut of Pitch Black is a better film than the theatrical

but the Theatrical of Riddick is a better Film IMO

and this sucks about Dark Fury being the Standard DVD only

Both unrated cuts are better. There's some mythology stuff that gets brought up in Chronicles of Riddick in the unrated that I'm not the biggest fan of, but over all the film is much better than the theatrical.

I have watched these many times and the Unrated Director's Cuts of both films are definitely superior to their theatrical cuts. There is more character development causing the viewer to actually care what happens to the supporting cast.

I'm disappointed that Dark Fury was not included originally as a special feature and now being released on DVD? I might as well go buy the DVD. Would be cheaper.

$36 is a bit steep, I think I will wait until I find the collection for $16 or $19

Argh. Just got my Riddick in the mail from Overstock (where they list it as Reddick Collection, none the less) and saw this posted.
Was expecting DF in 1080p - wouldn't have bought the set otherwise.

Did they just throw the three existing discs in a new case? Or are there any new transfers or extras?

Same discs and Dark Fury is simply the same DVD that has been available with the other two DVDs for several years now.

The only reason I was going to buy this was for a HD version of Dark Fury. I can't beleive the released a NON-ANAMORPHIC DVD in a BLU-RAY collection!!!!!!!!!!

The unrated of Chronicles of Riddick is a much better films. Its a true Directors Cut, rather than a cheap Unrated one.

It re-inserts deleted plot points and character beats, and one of the movies major action scenes (Crematoria) is drastically re-edited, restoring the original sound effects and violence.

Its pretty much the R rated Directors Cut that Universal made the director cut down to a PG-13.

The ending is also a lot better in the Directors Cut. In the DC, the film ends on
[Show spoiler]Riddick stating "you keep what you kill while sitting on the throne
, unlike the Theatrical where
[Show spoiler]You have this whole voiceover by Judy Dench at the end
