I am looking foward to seeing The Mist. The Thanksgiving weekend Blockbuster is going to be Disney'sCharmed (a family picture). A friend of mine (his girlfriend got early screening tickets and forced him to go see it Well, he has been raving about it and he is not a movie person at all.

That would be 'Enchanted'. Yes, I've been hearing a lot from the men in their 30s and 40s raving over the Disney flick.

Quite a rarity, I'll say.

that is good to hear. This is one that I have not read and I was worried that it might be a clone of "The Fog" based on some of the previews. So much of Stephen King's work gets butchered on film I had given up on seeing them. I may give "The Mist" a try this w/e.

It is directed by Frank Darabont and he wrote the screenplay too. He also did Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.

now that is awesome as Shawshank and The Green Mile are two of my favorites along with Stand By Me. You said movie was f/u. Was it scary at all? (w/o posting spoilers)

All I can say is, it is pretty much spot-on the story right until the end.

I totally forgot that it was coming out this weekend. Since I love most Stephen King stories and I was also impressed by the preview for this one, I am dying to check it out. I hope it is as F'd up as some of you say it is.

The ending is terrible. Any ending with (possible) death of everyone would have been better than this. Make an alternate ending and kill everyone!

The message is to never give up hope no matter how bad things are. With that the ending makes sense.

I like the ending. I like the film so much that I imported the German steelbook.

I love this movie, but here's how I would have ended it...

[Show spoiler]Skip the scene where the characters return to Drayton's house and see his dead wife. Instead, the characters go straight for the highway after leaving the grocery store. The car runs out of fuel, Drayton uses the remaining bullets to kill the four passengers in his vehicle, including his son, just as in the existing movie version. Drayton steps out of the vehicle, expecting to be killed by the monsters in the mist. The army vehicles full of refugees drive by, just as in the existing movie version. Suddenly, Drayton hears someone calling his name, and sees his wife on one of the refugee vehicles. His wife is overjoyed to see him and jumps off the refugee vehicle to run to him. Drayton and his wife embrace each other with laughter and tears. Drayton's wife then asks, "Where is our son?" The movie ends right there.

P.S. Just kidding. I like the ending as it is in the existing film. It's horrific, but the original Stephen King story ending would not have translated well to screen. The existing ending points out the importance of keeping hope alive despite all circumstances.

The ending was perfect.
This also is probably one of my favorite horror/Sci-Fi movies of all time. Can't beat the original Alien for that.
