Thumbs up An Idiot Abroad!

Anyone from the UK (or anyone else for that matter) seen this fantastic show.

It's about Karl Pilkington (the bald one from The Ricky Gervais Show) being sent to 7 wonders of the world and reporting on them. It sounds pretty dull, but it's hilarious.

Here's an official description which puts it better than me...

Quote:
Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are outraged that Karl has written off the Seven Wonders claiming they’re all “a bit ****” having never seen any of them with his own eyes. They’ve thrown down the gauntlet to send him around the globe to force him out of his comfort zone. Stephen wants the experience to broaden Karl’s mind and change his outlook on the world. Ricky wants Karl to hate every minute of it for his own amusement.

Dispatched on what many would term a journey of a lifetime, the ‘little Englander’ will be putting his misgivings to one side as Karl finds out for himself what the fuss in about. He will travel to all the wonders of the world meanwhile Gervais and Merchant will be keeping a watchful eye from London, monitoring every step of Pilkington’s journey. The conclusion of the series will see the weary traveler returning home to report on his findings.

Karl commented: “I can’t wait to get started. Not ‘cos I’m excited but ‘cos the sooner we start the sooner it will be over. The fact the nurse gave me an injection that protects me from dirty chimps put a dampener on the whole thing. I don’t think Ross Kemp has to have that injection.”
Still not sold, here's a clip - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgjFmhs5rk8

Karl was the only thing I liked about Ricky's show. He is such an idiot, that I will have to check this out, he's hilarious and I'd heard nothing of it.

Will probably buy the blu-ray instead of watching it on the TV as it comes out sometime this month, looks hilarious.

I've just finished watching the first 3 episodes. My god this show is hilarious. Just like when I was watching The Ricky Gervais Show, this one is mainly about Ricky and Steve being complete dicks to poor Karl, and putting him in shitty situations for their amusement. I cannot believe how disgusting some of the cultures are. I just couldn't even imagine the filth that is India and the things they showed, I don't care what they think, washing your hands with cow piss and sh*t, and brushing your teeth with it is not acceptable, lol. Karl may come across as an idiot at times, but he has a very unique view and he has made some pretty good observations. I'd probably be reacting in the exact same way as Karl in many of these situations. Hilariously enjoyable show though,

I saw the UK release in Blu-ray and was wondering if it was region-locked... also wondering if the US will get a Blu-release.

I haven't seen a Blu offering for the HBO show yet even in the UK... just DVDs.

I kept hoping BBC America would pick this up. I have seen some clips via the Ricky Gervais podcast on iTunes... and am pretty sure I will enjoy this.

Season 3 just began and now they're sending Karl out with Warwick Davis (of Willow and Return of the Jedi fame) on the course that Maco Polo supposedly took.

They've stated that this is the final season and it'll be bittersweet for me because I love this show...but really, how long can it go on? lol

I'm watching the rebroadcast of the season premiere now and the two of them together are pretty damned funny. I like that Warwick is more in on the joke, with a direct line to Ricky...as they all are out to just make Karl miserable by doing many things he has never experienced. More, never WANTED to experience.

The addition of Warwick this season has been great. It's funny when they show the hotel rooms the guys are staying in and Warwick has this nice clean room and Karl is stuck in a broom closet/ storage area. The banter between the two especially when Karl is getting upset is great too.

I wonder if the idea to have Warwick come along came about after last seasons phone call to him while Karl was visiting the little people village (theme park) in China.

One of my favorite shows a well. How many episodes is this final season. I read something that led me to believe it was only 3 episodes long...Hope that isnt true.
Would love to see a spin-of show with just Warwick traveling. A midget abroad?
