Default My name is JC480 and I'm a BDaholic

My name is JC480 and I'm a BDaholic.

I have over 500 Blurays and my friends think I'm a freak...although they love "borrowing" movies (which I *HATE* to give out!...MY PRECIOUS!)

I managed to get my BD buying compulsion tamed to around Black Friday and an occassional title here and there.

But I've recently discovered UV and now I'm back to scouring for BD deals with UV codes.................

LORDY SOMEONE HAP ME!

You've come to the wrong place mate. We're all enablers here.

Take 12 steps to your mailbox and pick up your new goodies from Amazon...

Quote:
1. Don't admit you have a problem. You don't. If you can manage to dress yourself competently enough to walk around Best Buy without people pointing at you, you're doing fine.
2. There is a power greater than yourself it's called 4k and will soon (not too soon) be your new master and Overlord.
3. Give yourself freely to your new Overlord. But not too freely, keep your weekends open.
4. Take inventory of your Blu-ray's. Lists are good.
5. Don't admit your failings to your Overlord. He'll send you back to SD in a heartbeat.
6. Ask the Overlord to remove all DNR and EE from your beloved Blu-rays. He will try but Universal have made the job much harder.
7. Ask your new Overlord for a bigger HDTV. With 3D.
8. Make a list of all the people who borrowed BD's from you and have not yet returned them. Hunt them down and make amends.
9. If you can't find the people who've borrowed your BD's, go to their houses and reclaim them. The keys are under the mat/fake looking rock in the front yard or you can fit through the cat-flap. People have really big cats these days. Be careful there maybe a puma inside.
10. Take a new inventory. Be honest. There are gaps in your collection. You may need to buy a few Digibooks or Steelbook's to fill that gap. If you don't have three copies of Blade Runner (a Steelbook™, A Digibook and a slip covered Viva Elite with UV copy) then you'll need to purchase them.
11. Bow to your new Overlord. They will provide BD's in the bedroom upstairs. Wirelessly.
12. Once you've gained a new understanding of your life, preach the Blu-ray message to others. Especially the ones who say "it does not look better than my DVD's," be patient these dim-witted folk will be the most difficult to convert. But their journey will be the most worthwhile...

I dream, think about and plan on buying movies on Blu-ray on a daily basis. It'll never be enough. And I love every minute!

500?

You are just starting out man... Newbee!

BTW, when my friends ask to borrow my Blu-rays I tell them to screw off. No one touches my collection. Hell I even don't. I use a pair of those white butler gloves to touch my movies with so I do not get finger prints or smudges on any of the covers or disc.

So yeah, my friends think I am crazy as well. It might be one reason I do not have to many of them... lol

I feel your pain but alas it is too late for you now.

There is no shame in your addiction, many are addicted but many do not "come out"as you have.

Accept your addiction and feed it,the shakes will go away as soon as you buy more BD's,trust me.

More is better.

I've cut back a lot after seeing how many DVD's I had that I considered obsolete. I didn't get jack when I tried to sell them and I'm hoping the next format after Blu doesn't exist for a while! I have a lot of what I like or want already. I do plan on adding a few Criterion's as I slowly make my way through viewing on Netflix and Hulu.

This was a good experience for me as well -- it reminded me that I acquire movies to watch them, not "have" them.

Exactly, only buy movies you plan on watching more than once. I'm also getting stuff my kids may want to watch.

Think of it this way: You're buying a movie probably because you like it. Doesn't mean you have to watch it as soon as you get home. You skip thru it, check out the PQ, some of the extras, put it back on the shelf and pull it when you're in the mood. I lost count the number of movies I have still unwatched. But I can't make buying decisions based on how many Blu-rays are sitting around that I haven't seen - I wouldn't have the awesome collection I have now if I did that
