Default Midsomer Murders (Acorn Media)

There isn't an existing thread for this quirky British police series, which is popular in the U.K. and a cult favorite abroad. By the end of July 2014, we'll be up to six sets:

Midsomer Murders Set 20 Blu-ray review

Midsomer Murders Set 21 Blu-ray review

Midsomer Murders Set 22 Blu-ray review

Midsomer Murders Set 23 Blu-ray review

Wow that's great, I hope they follow suit with Minder (uncensored).

Thumbs up Midsomer Murders

Is anyone else enjoying these BDs(& the other sets that are only on DVD ...I've just ordered Midsomer Murders: Barnaby's Casebook, Midsomer Murders: Village Case Files, & already own Midsomer Murders: Tom Barnaby's Last Cases & hope to purchase Midsomer Murders: Mayhem & Mystery Files when it comes down in $$) sets of Midsomer Murders!?

As you can see I am quite excited to be able to see all of this series for the 1st time.

The PQ from the episodes we have watched are exquisite
...the cinematography("my cup of tea") & the sets, production are top-notch(I am so glad I just started watching/investing in this great series)!

Let's discuss this fun series if anyone would like too!

Haven't gotten any of the BD's yet but I love the series. I still have a few of the DVD only ones to watch before I start buying the BD's. Can't wait though.

Can anyone tell me the frame rate used for the episodes on US Blu-Ray?

Being a British production shot primarily for UK television, you'd assume the series would be shot at 25p, as that's what it's broadcast at, yet as that isn't widely supported in the US, I wonder what frame rate they've used for the blu-rays, and whether as a result of any (if any) frame-rate conversion, the audio and/or video has been slowed down on the blu-rays (or sped up on the UK TV broadcasts)?

@Michael, another interesting review of S19.1 thank you.
Have to buy the US BDs as they don't release on BD in
UK, only US and Germany.

BTW almost certainly the reason episodes 5 and 6 of S19 aren't on this BD is because they have not yet had a TV broadcast in the UK. The first 4 were screened December to January but remainder won't be seen here until later in year.

I guess Acorn didn't want to delay the BD for a complete S19.

5 & 6 still haven't been shown in the UK?
They've been on Netflix US for a few weeks now.
I read they're working on series 20.
It seems Nick Hendrix is returning instead of my preference, Gwilym Lee.
Or Jason Hughes. And were also getting a new pathologist

It's common for ITV to have shows air outside of the UK before they appear in their domestic market. I've read that it's for tax reasons. They only pay tax on a production once it's had its UK airing.

Currently watching the latest season on Prime...Season 21, episode 3, is one of the best looking tv shows I have ever seen...Seems to be shot in 4k, but is not labeled...Amazing picture quality!!

Does anyone know the region coding for these releases? I'm thinking of ordering, but I don't wanna have a bunch of discs that I can't play!

I can't get on with the new guy, I can only take so much smirking. It's the ones with the legend that is John Nettles that I like. Of course so many of the stories are rubbish, & they seem to pick the murderer out of a hat at the end, but I don't watch it for the stories, I just like the whole vibe of the program. Everyone lives in such fantastic houses (even the poorer characters), they all have Aga's in the kitchen. All those early programs need a good HD transfer.

I can't answer for sure, but of the 20% of Acorn US releases that have been reported most of them are A only and not Region B friendly -- this has included all their bigger shows -- Murdoch, George Gently, Poirot, etc. I'm not sure that will apply to their later BD-R line of shows since most burned discs seem to be Region Free though not sure if there's a technical reason for it or not (doesn't seem like there would be though)

I could only find one Acorn release that was listed Region Free.

And of course pretty much all the older DVD only sets will be locked and NTSC
