Default What are your Top 5 Bluray remasters?

Just wanted to see what everyone's picks are. I watched both Blade Runner and Aliens this weekend and was blown away, AGAIN. Here are mine in no particular order.

MOVIE MUST BE AT LEAST 20 YEARS OLD

1. Blade Runner
2. Alien
3. Aliens
4. Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
5. Jaws

2) Lawrence of Arabia
3) Jaws

Substitute Aliens for Ten Commandments , and that's my list.

While I can't give definite answers to what I think; Cyborg and Criterion's Godzilla look fantastic on Blu-ray.

I thought this was going to be remasters we wanted, not remasters that already exist.

In no particular order, of the ones I've seen: Taxi Driver, Alien, The French Connection (the corrected one, obviously), The Sting, and The Blues Brothers.

My choice of the best 5 +1 blu-ray remasters are:

The Ten Commandments ( simply breathtaking)
The Exorcist
Ben-Hur
Lawrence of Arabia
E.T: The Extra Terrestrial and
Jaws

The Sting looks much worse than it should. DNR is evident throughout along with frozen grain.

I'm not sure what is meant by "remasters", so I'm just going to list five films off the top of my head that I think look the best on Blu-ray since I started my collection...

1. To Catch a Thief
2. The Searchers
3. Alien
4. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)
5. Lawrence of Arabia

It's possible my eyes were playing tricks on me. I saw it in 35mm and then the next day I picked up the Blu-Ray, and maybe my memory of the two is going together but I remember it looking good to me.

Perhaps I'll say Videodrome instead, or Blow Out. Or Bottle Rocket, except that doesn't meet the "20 years" requirement.

Videodrome (1982) & Blow out (1981) qualifies

Why does it need to be at least 20 years old? Any movie shot and printed in the analog process is in the same boat as far as needing to be digitally remastered...

I think Wizard of Oz should be somewhere in the mix. Otherwise I agree with everyone else in terms of Ben-Hur, LoA, Godfather etc.

The title of this thread is confusing me. I thought the OP was referring to remastered releases (Gladiator, Out of Africa, Total Recall, etc etc).

Yeah it should be the word "Restored" instead of "Remastered".
