Default Maps to the Stars (David Cronenberg, 2014)

A trailer has finally landed. As a matter of fact, two very different trailers have cropped up online, but the one keeps disappearing because of a copyright claim, so this will have to do for now:

I'm in.

But I'd be more interested in some news on Body Art. Has it been scrapped? I knew a film with Isabelle Huppert, Sigourney Weaver & David Cronenberg was too good to be true.

Some funny dialogue and scenes and great performances from all. It is blatantly Cronenberg and better than his last two films. Brilliant third act. It was an alright film. I started to give up on the film in the middle stretch but the third act was something else. Croenberg's funniest film to date. 7/10

Will be interesting to see how well it goes over on these boards.

lol at that trailer making it out to be some sort of thriller

Awesome cast. Looks to be an interesting story. And it's Cronenberg.

What's not to like?

So I am quite interested in this, but the only experience I have with David Cronenberg is The Fly. Should I see more of his films before I see this one?

Although there are surely some thematic currents that run through most of Cronenberg's films, his filmography is diverse that it's difficult to categorize in my opinion. I'm not sure that you would need to see more of his films to appreciate this one.

OTOH, more Cronenberg is always a GOOD thing.

Great film, Cronenberg's best since Eastern Promises.

Ah okay, thank you I just wondered as I know that there are some directors where if you don't really know their work or how they direct or the type of film they make, you're not likely to enjoy a recent one

Not really a fan of Cronenberg but Mia Wasikowska? She will get my ass in the seat for anything. Hopefully this lands on the side of the few. Cronenberg I have enjoyed.

Like AaronJ remarked, I doubt this film will have much to do thematically with material like Shivers, Videodrome, or Dead Ringers.
