Southern Comfort on Blu?

Anyone know of plans to bring this Walter Hill classic to BD anytime soon?

This disc is rare on DVD as it is (I have a treasured copy on DVD & Laser Disc) and would love a full BD of this film.

Whenever you're interested in finding out if there's a blu-ray release for a movie you want, just change the country settings to earth (every country) rather than any specific one and use the search bar first. You'll find your answers quicker and it saves more unnecessary threads being opened if you have a specific question about the product, then that's something different.
But yes, you should definitely go region free. It's totally worth it.

I also want a domestic Blu-ray release of Southern Comfort, since I do not have a region-free Blu-ray player at the moment.

Southern Comfort has been a well-loved movie of mine since I first saw it when I was in middle school back in the mid-1980s. It's such a rugged action movie with a true edge.

Also...

I'm sick of the Confederate flag on the cover art of my Southern Comfort DVD edition. Why, why, why did they put a Confederate flag on the cover? At no point in the movie does a Confederate flag make an appearance.

I actually do that quite a bit to search for westerns and other favorties. I just found out a couple weeks ago that Wellman's Yellow Sky has a region free German release. I snagged that in a second.

The good points about the UK disc are the transfer - which is very good for a film of this age. The disc also has a 45 minute interview/dcumentary were Hill discusses the movie.

The audio however is PCM mono and is disappointing. A 2.0 track would have been better. I have a couple of the previous dvd releases and they had two and five channel audio.

agree.

apart from that (isnt the end of the world) a good release, to be honest probably the best we will get. Watching the film again it isnt as good as when i first saw it, but enjoyable enough!

Just watched this and I enjoyed it,the film itself has a drab grey/green look to it but I guess that is close to the original source,the only real colours you see are at the end in the town were the film does look very well.

The Audio is just bog standard 2.0 mono,it's not great but don't let that put you off,I say if you are interested then go for it,I think you will enjoy it.

That drab grey/green look is what the film has always been. Sort of like First Blood.

I wish that I had a region-free player for this.

It's along the same lines as Deliverence,if you enjoy that I think you will this,in saying that Deliverence is a better movie IMO.
