Default digital optical cable

Does it matter what brand and what not? I have a headset that's connected to my ps3. It came with a very thin optical cable. I was curious if I would get better sound if I had a different one? Thanks.

I have a couple of optical cables of varying thickness and have never noticed a difference.

It carries a digital signal so no,whatever takes it from a to b is fine,as long as it gets there then there will be no difference.
A better headset would give you better sound.
