Default 3D HDMI splitter

Is there an HDMI splitter that splits both 3D and audio signals separately? Like many, I have a receiver that doesn't support 3D and I'm just not willing to upgrade JUST to have that feature. I currently want to split my PS3's signal so that my 3D TV can get 3D and for my receiver to get the audio signal (I don't want to bypass lossless audio) but from what I've read, that doesn't seem to work. The splitter doesn't seem to distinguish the output sources and so an identical source is sent to both outputs, resulting in no audio signal for the receiver. Aside from the splitter, is there any other solution??

Unfortunately no. With a HDMI splitter, the source will revert to the lowest common acceptable signal. It will see your receiver as not 3D compliant hence will not send 3D to your TV and also won't deliver lossless audio since your TV can't accept it. Depending on the quality of your receiver a dual HDMI BD player might be the best and cheapest route to do so (Sony 790 at $250 comes to mind)

sounds like you need what i need: a new 3d blu player with dual hdmi outs. one for audio - sent to the receiver, and one to the tv for video signal. anyone know the best but cheapest dual out 3d bd player?

edit: just read post above mine.

Glad I read this as I'm looking for the same, and thought a good HDMI splitter would work. I've seen a few listed as being 3D compatible and assumed that meant it would report back the 3D compatibility to the player.

Think of it as saving your PS3 for gaming and having a dedicated player for BD

Agree.

UPDATE: So I'm still hoping to go for the cheapest alternative, which would be to get a switcher that actually works. I contacted kinivo (HDMI switcher manufacturer) regarding this dilemma and they assured me that the switcher would work just fine for what I need. I'm gonna go ahead and trust them and hope for the best. Worst case scenario: It won't work and I can just return it....hopefully. I'll keep you guys updated for those interested.

So it's not a splitter but a switcher, is that correct? Def keep us posted as this would be great news for many.

If you are looking to display the same image on multiple monitors
you need a HDMI Splitter. If you are looking to switch between
multiple HDMI sources to one TV then you need a HDMI Switch. I would
recommend checking KVMSwitchTech as they offer reasonably priced HDMI
Splitter and HDMI Switch products.
