Why do people care about Backwards compatibility?

It seems like people are complaining just for the sake of complaining.

1. If you already own a PS3, you don't need BC on PS4. Sure it would be convenient for one system to play all your games, but its not a perfect world and most people are not willing to pay the price of a PS4 if it were B/C.

2. When PS4 comes out and you buy one, you most likely will not be playing your old PS3 games very often.



I just don't get it. I have a PS3 and plan on getting a PS4. Yes BC would be nice.... but its not a big deal to me. I also realize that including B/C would mean the PS4 would be wayyyy more expensive. If Sony were to do that, then people would just complain about the console being too expensive. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
