Thumbs up PS4 Release Date: October 29th?

Some websites have done a lot of digging and found out that ACIV is coming out on October 29th, and will be on "next-gen consoles".

It makes sense for them to release this game on PS4 launch day to optimize their sales. That seems more likely than releasing it first on PS3, and then releasing it a week or two later on PS4

Right now it's just speculation, but with Sony announcing "Holiday 2013" as their launch window, most people have suspected an early November release for PS4, so late-October would make sense too.

I'm going to stick to an early November estimate. Releasing AC4 a couple of weeks later on the new console won't make too big a difference. Or, they could release it on October 29th anyways and still have the console launch a couple of weeks later. People will still buy the game in anticipation of having the system.

Assassin's Creed III came out on other systems before the Wii U so I think people are reading too much into it. Still expecting mid November to early December personally. But the PS2 did launch October 26th in North America so you never know.

If that's the case then I'm not buying the next Assassin's Creed until the PS4 is released in Australia, so I may have to wait until next year.

I don't think the two lines are meant to be read as one.

I certainly don't think UBI knows the exact release date for PS4!

You don't think the major 3rd party devs don't know what street date they have to hit for launch? I'd imagine that they do (for however firm it is) and would even go so far as to guess that some of the bigger may actually have a little influence on it if it means having a huge franchise launch day 1. (Not a ton mind you, but I wouldn't be shocked if Sony and Ubi collaborate on a launch date to line everything up.

Getting out a month ahead of the Durango would be a very good move. We'll see what happens.

No way it releases after the first 2 weeks of November when they know Black Friday here in the US is the most important single holiday shopping day here in the US.That day after Thanksgiving is literally the un official start to the holiday shopping season for shoppers & retailers here in the US.

I wouldn't be surprised if PS4 launches in the last or 2nd to last week of October.Right around that time NFL season is in full swing NBA season is starting up and MLB season is finishing up with the World Series.

Plenty of time and places for Sony to heavily market & promote the PS4 launch.

I wouldn't be surprised either if it's october. Only because of "call of duty" always launching a new game in the first 2 weeks of november.

Cross-gen games don't have to launch the same date as each other. They will just be a launch game for whenever the console does launch.

Although I expect an early to mid November PS4 launch, so we wouldn't have to wait too long.

I don't think Assassin's Creed IV is the canary in the coal mine for PS4's launch date.

I think Grand Theft Auto V is, and it currently is penciled in on September 17.

I find it difficult to imagine that Sony and/or Microsoft have not sent a next genreation developer kit to Rockstar Games, and the new hardware with tons of extra memory is exactly what R* would like to have.

I fully expect GTA5 to be a launch window game; if nothing else, it might get pushed back a little more to make sure a PS4 and maybe Xbox Durango version are available, but in any case I think keeping an eye on GTA5 is going to be a better leading indicator than AC4.

NOTE: It has been nearly 5 years since GTA4 was released, and will be over 5 years by the time the new hardware arrives. Does anyone really think Take Two, Sony and Microsoft aren't aware of this?

last time, I waited out and got my xbox on a price error for $199, by the time this thing launches, I'll have like $300 in Best Buy RZ Certificates. (Maybe?).

I think I'm in on this one. Not going to pay for Xbox Live anymore, I barely touch it anyway... Just gotta hope that Sony learned from the PS3 pricing disaster and only put it around 399 =P
