Default best speakers and sub for onkyo 605(desperet)

im buying a onkyo 605 this weekend after a month of deciding which reciever to get, now i finally got that out of the way i need a good surround setup. thers to many options out there and i cant seem to choose a right one,i need something with a very strong sub and speakers,so if you guys can help me out that would be great. and i would like all satiliet and/or bookshelf speakers and a ceter one, and to let you guys know all this will be going in a small to medium size room for use with ps3 on a 40" samsung if that helps give you guys a better picture.

DEFINITELY get a good sub and some tower speakers for the front left/ right. I spent $400 on my sub and really wish I would have spent about $100 more to get a better one. Check out Velodyne and Klipsch for some butt-kickers. As for speakers, monitor audio has a killer line out right now that sounds very good. They have a large range of prices but I would suggest the reference line. Brandnamez.com has a pretty good selection from them for pretty cheap.

if you want really small but good sound, Definitive has a great package called the ProMonitor600 comes with full 5.1 setup! Good stuff, but not going to give the sound of bigger bookshelves, but the best sound for that size/price

Well it might be a bit more than your price range but I absolutely love my paradigm cinema series speakers. I purchased them a while ago, but from what I remember it was around 900.00. These speakers are powered very easily so even without a lot of power sound will come out excellent. The speakers have a very warm and balanced sound to them which I like alot more than the current trend of loud and sharp speakers that over emphasize treble. Hopefully you'll check them out.

Ascend Acoustics just introduced the SE version of their HTM-200 speakers. I own their Sierra 1 speakers across my front stage and their CMT-340s for surround and love them. The HTMs are quite compact. For subs, I would go with either one of the smaller Hsu Research subs or the AV123 X sub. Haven't heard the latter, but it gets great reviews. I have also heard good things about Hsu's sattelite speakers, but have not experienced them.

HTH,

Chris

I'd also recommend the Def Tech baby Pro Cinema set. My mom has the older pro60 in a fairly large room (16 x22) and they do impress. I have recently gotten the 605 to compliment my Def Tech pro800/1000 spearkers. I have these in my living room (10x14) which is less than half the size of my mom's. I finally got a PS3 the other night and watched Black Hawk Down last night. Holy Moly! That was one hell of an Audio Mardi Gras going on there. First time to hear true uncompressed sound - and these speakers have never sounded better. Go to the def tech site and read the reviews on their stuff. Most people will agree it's arguably the best bang for the audio buck. One other option you might want to think about is buying more expensive speakers in increments. For example: buy the sub (pro1000 @ $500 / pro monitor 800 @ $250/pr.) and then add other speakers later as finances permit. You could hook up some older speakers to hold you over.

Does anyone know how these compare to the 3005's ? I heard the 3005's this weekend and they blew away everything else I heard. I would love to get them but not for 1500$, the 2005's on the other hand would be affordable but I was wondering how they compare to the 3005's. If it makes any difference I'm referring to "Kef KHT2005.2 Five Speaker Plus Subwoofer" (the silver one)

Also, anyone know how well the KHT2005.2 is for gaming? I do quite a bit of gaming on xbox360 and also on the ps3 when i get that.
