United Kingdom Random Re-Releases

I'm on Amazon in the pre order section, and I've noticed lots of titles that all already available on Blu-Ray for pre-order for £13.99, such as Point Break, The Shining and True Romance, with no pictures but now saying that there is a UV copy. Is that the only reason for the re-release, or are they actual special editions?

It did initially get my hopes up that we may see a UK release of the Uncut Shining which had a limited theatrical run here last year, but alas it does indeed seem to merely be repackaging with UV.

Why not just buy the US BD of The Shining as it's the longer cut

Yes, most likely. Warner is re-releasing many of their titles to add UV copies. Don't expect any other changes.

longer != better

Many consider the EU cut to be superior to the US one.

Longer doesn't always mean better, I agree.

Jamesmcrosby was hoping for the longer cut so I was pointing him in the right direction, I too prefer the longer cut of The Shining

Sorry, total fail on my part. I didn't read the original post you were referring to, just yours. In his case, importing the US edition would be the way to go. I do wish Warner would just release both cuts in both regions though, they could just use seamless branching for it.

Sounds good to me Always nice to have the option. Save all this double dip nonsense too.

The US Shining was one of the first blu-rays I imported as I definitely wanted the longer cut. More Kubrick = better.
