Default Best Movie Streaming Service

I'm a complete noob when it comes to streaming content. I recently purchased a Sony BDP-S790 as the first piece of my HT set up, and I'd like to begin studying about all of this. The reading I've done so far points to VUDU because of the HD quality of it's movies.

Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Nothing else is 1/5th as stable (+ VUDU is the highest quality to boot, plus offers the lowest day to day prices...by and large).

I would have to agree that VUDU is the best quality wise (at least to my eyes) when it comes to streaming.

Amazon Instant Video isn't too bad either, but VUDU is definitely the best.

I agree that VUDU is the best, although I've only streamed movies using my PS3 and BD player (haven't tried on my tablet). BTW - I find that it streams better through my BD player (no buffering) than my PS3

Also Vudu offers some 3D titles. Amazon has yet to introduce that. I will say that Amazon Prime instant video offers tons of free movies.

Not really free since it's part of a paid service.

Is it? I was wondering about that. I guess I could always do an A-B comparison with The Hunger Games or The Bourne Legacy to see which one looks and sounds better. I have the HDX Vudu and HD Amazon digital copies of both.

Yep:

What is the quality of the videos?

The video quality we deliver will depend on your internet connection. We'll automatically detect your connection speed and send you the highest quality stream your connection can support. Our standard definition files are comparable to DVD quality and our HD files are even better. Our HD files are streamed in high-quality 720p resolution, or can be downloaded to TiVo at 1080i resolution.

I'm sure they'll step up their game before too long though, especially with as hard as they're trying to expand the Prime Instant Video to be a larger Netflix competitor.

If they really wanna compete with Netflix or VUDU or anyone else, they need to make an Amazon Instant Video app available for Android tablets and phones. I know they value the marketshare of the Kindle Fire, but ultimately the real money will be made from selling content.

Vudu is great, but if you have a lot of itunes movies the apple tv is a pretty good investment...only $99 and can play anything on your computers itunes and has a lot of cool features worth looking into.

I just compared the players myself and the difference is astounding. Vudu blew away flixster by a wide margin.

Now if I redeem a bluray code in Flixster, will I still get an HDX version over in Vudu?

I know Ill get the movie in vudu if its available. Many are. I just wanna make sure that I dont get downgraded to an SD version if I dont redeem through them. Sometimes My friends give me a code that they dont know what its for. To redeem in Vudu, I have to know the title first. If I dont know it, I can redeem it through Flixster.com/getuv without the title.
