Brighton Beach Memoirs has already been released by Shout Factory (March of this year).

The third play in the trilogy, Broadway Bound, was adapted into a network TV movie (Jonathan Silverman and Corey Parker are in it but this time Corey plays Eugene and Jonathan his older brother which is all kinda confusing). I've actually never seen it, though I've seen the play (which is solid but not as compelling as the previous two). Blu-ray.com shows a 1.85 aspect ratio but the OAR is in scope. Amazon Germany has this for much cheaper. I wonder if the transfer is the same. I have a region free player and am placing an import order to the US.

Really looking forward to reading your review of the German edition. Anytime I can screw over Shout with their ridiculous over pricing and restrictive pricing strategies, I’m more than happy to do it.

Probably due to SF showing a 1.85:1 aspect ratio on their site.

That’s usually a problem with Blus from France and not Germany, but I agree that it’s better to be safe than sorry. Just have to wait for a reliable review to pop up at Amazon.de which will delve into the details of the Blu itself rather than just tell the plot of the movie like most Amazon reviewers do Or maybe a member of this site will risk an order and report back.

It looks like this transfer has a healthy bit rate and is on a BD-50. The German release is on a BD-25 with low bit rate according to a guy on this sites Germany forum.

I watched the first half of the film this morning and plan on finishing it tonight.

The transfer is rock solid and, of course, the film itself is excellent. I forgot how great the dialogue is. The ensemble is perfect.

This one's an easy recommendation from me.

I’m so happy to hear the transfer is good. This was a film that just hit me when I was a kid. While I was very familiar with the big movies of the 80s and early 90s I wasn’t terribly versed in these types of films yet. It was on tv and it just pulled me in. I look forward to picking this up. I love Nichols.
