Well, the other film (Kaththi) had already been authored and mastered for BD release by Sunny prior to his sabbatical. It was the company (API) which pulled the plug just as the BD was about to be released.

Was anything done with this master? Was it the source for any streaming services or TV broadcasts?

AFAIK, it is. There was a long wait involved in order to get the special features, but that went futile and Sunny proceeded with mastering the barebones BD... And then this happened.

I thought no more BD's were going to be produced for Tamil movies?

Also any idea of Theri? API has released a DVD so any plans for BD? Seeing as the its the same producer for both the movies?

I would certainly buy Kaththi blu-ray as well, because all the online sources (Tentkotta, Ayngaran's YouTube page) have weirdly distorted audio.

If Theri comes out, would love to pick that up as well. Beautiful colors. At worst is eye candy and decent film with decent story and good acting and cinematography.

Maybe API can advertise a superstar pack!

Guys do not get carried away...Only Kabali "might" come...once approved.
No other API titles will release on BD.

@Sunny, have you guys looked into platforms like Vudu, M-Go, Amazon Prime, and Netflix? All of the 4 have 4K HDR support and the first two also have Dolby Atmos support. Looks like Tentkotta does 4K too but no HDR.

Asking this to say that preparing a 4K UHD HDR Atmos master for 4K UHD Blu-ray may not be a waste at all even API decides not to release a 4K Blu-ray.
