Sorry if this is the wrong section.
So I have a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 3 TB external hard drive and I've been having trouble with it lately. When I plug it into my Macbook Pro, it isn't detected by my computer nor do the lights come on on the drive. However, it works fine on my dad's older Macbook Pro. I have already replaced the USB cable once and it worked for awhile. If I disconnect the actual drive from the base, the lights on the base light up so that tells me the base isn't the problem. I think the problem is that the USB hubs on my computer aren't supplying it with enough power and am thinking about buying a Firewire adapter in hopes that it will work. Anybody have any suggestions before I drop $50 on it? Does firewire provide more power than USB? |
