Basic plot: Their friend kills his girlfriend. The characters have to figure out how to handle the situation.

Reeves plays a pre-Ted "Theodore" Logan burnout, Glover plays his insane friend (brilliant!) & Hopper plays a drug dealer who's companion is a blow-up doll. imdb link. This movie has sooooo many classic lines, albeit most of the film is unintentionally funny. Would love to see this hit blu-ray!

I believe a 2K DCP'S of this exists and is showing places now, so a blu ray for some country should be on the books now.

Same with Runaway Train, Investigation Of A Citizen Above Suspicion and The Big Gundown.

I went to high school in the late 1980s. My friends and I loved The River's Edge, because we all dressed just like the characters in the film, and we all listened to similar music. We never killed anyone, of course, but we still related to the characters in a big way.

This is a great piece of 1980s nostalgia that I would love to have on Blu-ray someday.

I'd buy River's Edge on BD. I saw the movie in the theater when it was released in 1987, and I loved it. When it finally hit DVD in 2001, I bought it, worried that it wouldn't hold up, but it aged pretty well IMHO.

Glover's performance was pretty polarizing when the film was first released. Some praised it as brilliant and fearless, and others thought it was over-the-top bad acting. I thought it was very strange, but I loved it. It was almost as if he was in a different movie than everyone else, which may seem like a flaw, but when I commented earlier that it has aged well, I was thinking mostly about Glover's performance. In some ways he was ahead of his time with his acting choices and now the audiences have caught up with him, and it doesn't seem so weird as much as it was so right.

I think you are totally correct in this assessment. I can see how his performance would have seemed odd for 1986.
