I'm creating this thread to know everyone's most anticipated movies that are coming out in 2013. I am really looking forwards to Oz: The Great and Powerful as well as Iron Man 3 and whatever other Marvel movies are coming out.
What movies do you know that are coming out in 2013? what movie are you most anticipating? |

I probably won't see all of these at the theater, but I look forward to them in some form or fashion.
Terrence Malick's To The Wonder My favorite current director and my favorite actress (Olga Kurylenko). I see no reason why I will not love this film. Pacific Rim This Guillermo del Toro flick has a great trailer that makes me want to revisit the old Voltron cartoons of my youth. Bullet To The Head Director Walter Hill (Southern Comfort) is back! Oblivion The trailer for this looks ace. Looks like a perfect flick to see on Blu-ray. Once again, my favorite actress, Olga Kurylenko, has a role. Iron Man 3 Iron Man 2 was a disappointment, but I love the trailer for Iron Man 3. Stark's house crumbling into the ocean...wow. Star Trek Into Darkness The trailer looks outstanding. Man of Steel I'm as burned out on superhero movies as the next person, but I cannot let the absymal Superman Returns be the most recent Superman offering that I've seen. Carrie Let's face it... Some classic horror films still beg for a good remake. I would include The Evil Dead reboot with this, but I'm burned out on zombies/zombie-like demons. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire I liked the first film even better than I liked the book. I know that I'm in the minority here. I like how the first movie played out like a 1970s old-school sci-fi dystopian story (like Soylent Green or Logan's Run), and how it lacked the heavy-handed first-person teenage girl point of view from the book. Disappointed that a different director is at the helm, but I'll give this a shot. The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug Looking forward to seeing Smaug set everyone straight after they try to steal his gold. (I know it wasn't originally his gold, but I am cheering for him nonetheless.) I'm sure that there are quite a few indie/foreign films I'll want to see as well. My top 12, in no particular order:
Upstream Color (Shane Carruth) I'm So Excited (Pedro Almodóvar) Snowpiercer (Joon-ho Bong) Mud (Jeff Nichols) The World's End (Edgar Wright) At Any Price (Ramin Bahrani) Twelve Years a Slave (Steve McQueen) Foxcatcher (Bennett Miller) Inside Llewyn Davis (The Coen Brothers) Stoker (Chan-wook Park) The Grandmaster (Wong Kar Wai) Gravity (Alfonso Cuarón) And a few more about which I'm cautiously optimistic: Byzantium (Neil Jordan) Beauty and the Beast (Christophe Gans) The Place Beyond the Pines (Derek Cianfrance) The Great Gatsby (Baz Luhrmann) The Sacrament (Ti West) Her (Spike Jonze) John Dies at the End (Don Coscarelli) Only God Forgives (Nicolas Winding Refn) Elysium (Neill Blomkamp) Oldboy (Spike Lee) Devil's Knot (Atom Egoyan) The Monuments Men (George Clooney) And two TV miniseries: Labyrinth (Christopher Smith) Restless (based on the William Boyd novel) As far as big blockbuster stuff, most of the trailers I've seen so far have been pretty awful. I'm most stoked for the Marvel line-up: Iron Man 3, The Wolverine and Thor: The Dark World. Also curious about Branagh's Jack Ryan. |
