For those in the US (and possibly elsewhere), like Maigret, this hits the £7.85 shipping cost tier and one disc can be added for the same cost, or essentially, "free" shipping.

I know some are going to say it happens all the time, but after accidently seeing threads here last Wednesday for some of last Thursday's Eureka announcements (before they were officially announced), the Gideon's Way Blu-ray set being added to Network's website last Thursday I enjoyed more than the official Eureka announcements earlier last Thursday (there is one title from that slate which I'm interested in though).

Will pre-order this Blu-ray set sooner rather than later (considering getting the Supercar and Maigret sets as well at some point). And with the soundtrack CD being included as well, which I had thought about getting a while back, it's an extra incentive to get this set. Had hoped Network were going to give this the Blu-ray treatment (Talking Pictures TV have been repeating the series again recently (it's a pity the rights to The June Allyson Show weren't available, but apparently sadly not).

This is another of those irresistible Network releases that I simply couldn't pass up.
I thoroughly enjoyed the DVD set which I've treasured for a number of years. So this is a very welcome upgrade.

Now if Network continue this trend they could make me very happy with a Catweazle set and A Very Peculiar Practice upgraded in the same manner.

One of the series I hope Network give a Blu-ray upgrade to is The Champions.

Catweazle - 16mm film so if it all exists, yeah.

A Very Peculiar Practice - video with film inserts (that probably don't survive) so would be an upscale if they did it.

I'd never get rid of my DVD of the later though - signed for me by Peter Davison at a ComiCon who seemed delighted to be offered a break from signing Doctor Bloody Who.

I have the complete series on Network DVD and to be honest, have grown really weary of double dipping. I've never even seen a single episode of this series, though I do like UK shows on the whole from that era, hence my picking up the DVD box.

Can anyone familiar with this series and who has seen more than a handful of episodes comment on its quality as a show? Unlike some other Network shows that I have upgraded to Blu, I have no idea if this one merits the extra expense.

Just do it, Professor Echo. The difference in quality between dvd and the episode on the ITC Retro Action disc is night and day.

Having messed up the wife's birthday by not ordering the Maigret, could this be a good replacement? What's the format/are there lots of murders to solve?

Never mind, a gift delivered on 11th October will NOT stand me in good stead!

Had a notification email from Network today, to say that the release date for Gideon's Way: The Complete Series has been pushed back to Monday 8th November. Have double-checked the listing page on Network's website and the release date is the revised release date.

I'm wondering if my copy shipped at the end of last week. Received a notification which suggested either the Blu-ray set had shipped, the music score CD extra or both.

So you think that it is close to HD quality? For the Maigret Box set it wasn't really the case, because of the source. The stories themselves were great though.
Will get this set most likely.

It's a bit DNRed in places but it looks very good otherwise. I recommend picking this up. I'm going to go for Maigret at some point myself.
