Did anyone watch this new USA limited series? I highly enjoyed it myself. I thought Weaver was great. I'm looking forward to the next episode.

I only saw commercials for it, and I was just wondering do they even attempt to do anything unique or unexpected or is the usual (D) = GOOD (R) = BAD?

Heard a lot of complaints about it from friends who watched it.

Especially the stereotypically insulting gay son character. You'd think we'd be past such lame portrayals nowadays.

I really didn't find it to be so black and white at all.

I'm gay and it really didn't bother me here. It made sense under these circumstances.

Here's a good review of the premiere from TV.com though it does contain spoilers: http://www.tv.com/news/the-political...ammonds-29114/

I've been a fan of Greg Berlanti ever since his first film "The Broken Hearts Club" and I will watch anything he makes typically.

Personally while I enjoyed the pilot but I'm glad this is a miniseries and not an actual TV series. There is only enough story here to keep everything feeling fresh for awhile, without becoming a clone of "Brothers and Sisters" after awhile.

I don't get a lot of the controversy over the show as well. The gay son plot line and the potentially crazy fiance weren't something you don't see in a million other shows (although they are probably more true to real life here than most other places).

I didn't even know Berlanti did Broken Hearts Club. I enjoyed that film.

Loved Brothers & Sisters, though it went downhill after a while. But I still stuck with it.

Don't get me wrong I really enjoyed "Brothers and Sisters" but like you I felt like as the years went on there was more and more filler and by the last season I watched it out of obligation. It was still entertaining, but not nearly as exciting/awesome as it had been previously.

I think that's what slightly turned me off about "Political Animals" - because it already seems to be getting there... But it's only 6 episodes long, I'll stick with it. Isn't like Sunday nights have a lot going on

What was stereotypically insulting? He's not in the least. I'm gay and I'm not insulted at all because it's quite realistic. Funny how the straight guy who has never seen the show has a problem with it but the gay people in this thread and the gay male who WROTE it clearly don't.

The show is absolutely phenomenal. My mom and I are totally hooked as are several friends of mine. Really hoping it's brought to blu. Otherwise, I might have to cap it myself.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand it's not. Just announced the DVD only.

I don't understand the point of releasing on DVD-only these days. So stupid.
