Default Just One Movie From Your Collection...

If someone walked into your house and hadn't seen any of the movies in your collection, which one would you pick to show them? You could pick that movie for any reason (PQ, AQ, Great Film, Life-Changing Movie, etc.). What would you pick and why?

Whoa, an interesting variation on the 'pick something from your collection' theme?

I was not expecting that

Taking a strictly literal approach to the question if somebody had never seen Star Wars I would be very strongly inclined to go that way.

But taking out all the movies in my collection we can assume most people have seen it becomes trickier...

Young child - The Wizard of Oz - just to watch their eyes light up when it went from black and white to color
Older child - One of the Universal Classic monsters, probably Dracula or Frankenstein - every kid needs to experience creepy, old-school, things that go bump in the night horror movies
Teen - Sherlock Series One - I fell in love with the BBC when I was eleven or twelve. WTTW Channel 11 in Chicago was in that case literally a window to the world (Monty Python, Dr Who (Tom Baker, of course), Fawlty Towers, The Prisoner)
Adult - All About Eve - this is basically just a placeholder for one of a hundred 'underappreciated classics'

My all-time favorite movie is actually Le Samourai, but it's not on Blu-ray just yet in my neck of the woods. Army of Shadows is a close second, and the Blu-ray looks phenomenal.

After looking through my collection, I think I'd go with..

It's one of the funniest movies ever, and I'd say is accessible to most ages. Plus, even if they've seen it before (I know that's not part of the op's equation), it's the type of movie that doesn't get old. There's just so many quotable parts in it.

That's not bad. In fact, I might have to change one (or maybe even all) of mine to Airplane! for those same reasons.

Assuming we got time? My favorite in my collection and the finest television ever produced.
