JP Blu-rays of TekkonKinkreet, SummerWars, TGWLTT, WolfChildren... English subs?

I'd love to order these Japanese Blu-rays of some of my favorite animes, but I'm not certain they contain any subs. I might still order them without, but it'd be good to know. Btw, are there any definitive sources for this type of information?

I'm pretty sure none of these have subs. At least with Summer Wars and Wolf Children (possibly the others as well), you get the absolute best PQ/AQ presentations. If that factors in for you. The packaging is obviously cooler too.

Personally, I am intrigued by some of these too, but no English subs are provided.

None of them do. Get the US or UK releases if you want English subtitles.

No English subs on those JP releases. However, if you are looking at importing, the Korean versions of Tekkonkinkreet and Summer Wars both have English subs. Packaging is also top notch.

Is the Korean Summer Wars about the same PQ/AQ as the JP edition or is it closer to the US release in that regard? Any idea on that?

Don't own the Kor version so I can't speak for it. According to here though, it should be reference quality. There's also an English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track. Good luck hunting down a copy, it's been OOP for a long time now.

Thank you for the info, guys! I was afraid they would come without subs. My Blu-ray player can show external subs from an USB stick, so I guess I will still order them. The PQ/AQ seem to be amazing and the packaging is beautiful, too.

Pioneer BDP-140 with a custom firmware. Dirt cheap, too! Unfortunately you can't seem to resize the subs and on my 55" TV they're a bit large for my taste. But maybe I just haven't figured it out yet?
