One of the other side's mantras is first gen Blu-ray players will be obsolete with 1.1 or 2.0.

Despite the mis-information being spread by those suffering by Blu-envy, backward compatibility is part of the specs for Blu-ray. The only thing that may be needed by "1.0 players" is a firmware update to ensure playability.
