Default Dragon (Wu Xia) 4/16/2013, US disc is the shortened version

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Dragon-Blu-ray/66566/

The 2011 Peter Chan directed film is finally out from Anchor Bay in the US, but unfortunately, the 115 minute version from Hong Kong/China is not on the disc, but a 98 minute edited version. There are no deleted scenes on the disc.

The Hong Kong disc for region A, and the Australian disc for region B are the only ways to get the full film with English subtitles.

I just read the review of this film. I'm very interested in picking it up. I usually go with the longer intended cut of the film. So I'm wondering do I go with the US version or the longer Hong Kong import. What do you reccomend?

Yea, I figured the HK version is the one to own. Thanks for letting me know the transfer is solid as well. I'm sold.

I own the HK release as well. Great film, and definitely a solid transfer.

I'm surprised Martin did not address this issue in his review of the US release, or at least mention that the film is apparently missing approximately 17 minutes from the original HK release.

I usually make a habbit to check because they mangle the movie in one way or another.

http://www.dddhouse.com is a good place to find a proper release for many asian movies.

I have the HK version of this movie myself.

It certainly is and the guy that runs it is extremely professional. I have ordered the HK editions of Conan the Barbarian, Conan the Destroyer, The Last Samurai, and the Ip Man 1 + 2 set from him. The prices are reasonable and his shipping doesn't take long.
