this thread is for shorter R-Rated and Theatrical Versions
these aren't cut by BBFC just shorter versions

details taken from BBFC, melonfarmersUK, movie-censorship, and dvdcompare also sometimes from other websites and reviewers

(for UK BBFC Pre-Cut, Cut and Banned BD's/UHD's 4k UK Releases, Please See the Other Thread I have )

Alexander (1992) Theatrical Cut
Exists in 4 versions: Theatrical Version (175:44), Director's Cut (159:59 PAL), Final Cut (213:12) and Ultimate Cut (205:25)
[Show spoiler]The French "Édition Collector" includes 3 cuts of the film - Theatrical Cut, Final Cut, and the Ultimate Cut
with lengthy extras but note it does not include any audio commentaries and the third disc has non-removable French subtitles.
The US and Italian 2-disc "The Ultimate Cut" releases include both the Ultimate Cut and the Theatrical Cut with lengthy extras including 2 commentaries.
The Australian, Dutch, German and US releases each feature "The Final Cut" version but do note the following:
- The identical Australian and US releases have a wealth of extras but only have lossy Dolby Digital audio.
- The German release has DTS-HD High Resolution soundtrack with the commentaries and some minor exclusive extras.

Andrei Rublev (1966) Theatrical Cut (182:52)
Note: there are two versions: a short director approved version and a longer Premiere Version.
US Criterion has both versions
theatrical cut (183:10) and the 'Passion of Andrei' cut (205:51)

AVPR: Aliens vs Predator - Requiem (AKA AvP2) (2007) R-Rated "Theatrical Cut"
The US release has two versions of the film ("Theatrical Version" (93:49) and "Unrated Version" (101:05) )
but is missing three featurettes found on the non-US releases.
All other releases have three additional featurettes and twenty minutes of deleted scenes but include only the "Theatrical Version"

Barb Wire (1996) Rated Cut missing approx 2m4s
[Show spoiler]Extended pre-credits scene showing more of Barb stripping in a club. This scene also extends into the credits.
More of the dancing half naked lesbians in a night club
Note: the US (2002)DVD was Unrated and the UK (1996)VHS was also uncut and Unrated
(German Turbine BD Steelbook has Unrated version)

Bloodsucking Freaks (1976) Director's Cut
US has longer Alternative Version
[Show spoiler]that has the title sequence under the name Sardu Master of the Virgins and includes an extra 43s sequence of Sardu giving Ralphus an undetailed blow job. The extra sequence is of a lower quality than the rest of the movie as explained on the cover.

Casualties Of War (1989) Theatrical Cut missing approx 5-6m (2 scenes) from Extended version
Note: German Koch release has both versions

Children of the Corn (1984) Theatrical Cut
was shown Uncut on ITV some time around 1987
The director's initial cut was much longer than the version that eventually made it to theaters and video.
Amongst the missing footage:
[Show spoiler]
A longer prologue where several other adults are killed, most noticeably a deputy whose throat is slashed and then stabbed in the chest, and a farmer who is hacked to death outside his barn by a group of pick-axe wielding kids.
A scene between Sarah and Job's parents before the slaughter. They talk over the breakfast table about Sarah's drawings of the upcoming massacre and how they think something awful is about to happen.
A scene where Isaac prays to He Who Walks Behind The Rows only to receive a horrific vision of his impending fate.

Cold-Blooded Beast AKA Slaughter Hotel (1971) Longer Composite Cut
UK BD(96:41)
This release has all the softcore options except one scene with Rosalba Neri and the gardener, which is cut
(but the entire scene is missing from euro version)
US BD (94:07)euro version
Raro Not quite as complete as 88 Films version, but it does have the nude scenes of Anne.
It lacks the love scene between Anne and the gardener and towards the end of the love game between Angela and Mara is missing a few shots.
softcore nudity is via body doubles

Con Air (1997) Theatrical Cut
DVD's were Extended Unrated versions about 6m longer
[Show spoiler]The violence is bloodier, including a more graphic headshot, a prisoner who drools blood after being shot in the chest & the throat-cutting with handcuffs has been reframed & looks more graphic. The burning death of a prisoner is also slightly longer, and a little extra back-story on how Poe once killed a prisoner called "The Giant", 'Johnny-23' brags more about rape

Dances With Wolves(1990) Theatrical Cut
German BD has both "Director's Cut" (236:39) and the "Theatrical Cut" (181:04)

NOTE: German Release has 2K scan of the US PG-13 version with 53 seconds of additional material of the international version reinstated from a standard definition source upscaled.

Die Hard (1988) Theatrical Cut
The Special Extended Version of Die Hard is an uncontentious 62s extension to the scene where the FBI cutting off the power supply is expected to assist the terrorist in disabling the vault locks.
This extra material better explains the power cut and reversion to an emergency supply
was extra on UK DVD, US DVD has full Extended version

Die Hard: With a Vengeance (1995) US Pre-Cut
The film was pre-cut by 20th Century Fox in America before its release, and it was this cut that was released worldwide.
The 12 seconds of cuts include some chain-whipping in the fight between McClane and Targo
some Australian BD Boxsets OOP had both versions
unrated version is also on the BD contained in the deluxe Tower release (US)

The Driver (1978) - Theatrical Cut
A longer version has been noted on the film festival circuit, adding depth to the characters but this has never seen the light of day on home video

Evil Dead (2013) Rated Theatrical Cut missing approx 4m
Cut in the US for an R rating.
Scandanavia, Germany and Japan have Uncut Un-Rated BD's
(An extended version was aired by Channel 4 in January 2015)

For a Few Dollars More (1965) Pre-Cut Version
The uncut longer version is currently exclusive to German Blu-ray
The missing material has been restored, and is slightly different in quality to the remainder of the film, not disturbingly different though
and also features the original English sound mix (for the audio purists) post-credits title card ('Where life had no meaning...') is here presented in German.
Cover declares the film is 'uncut for the first time worldwide'.

Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) Cut R Rated Theatrical Version
Cut for an MPAA R rating. The same cut version has been used for all UK and US release since.
There's no sign of the cuts being restored, so for the moment this is the best available version
[Show spoiler]The decapitation from part 1 shown as a flashback has the decapitation once again trimmed for the blood-gushing from the cut throat.
Blood was cut from the death of Alice.
Crazy Ralph's death was briefly reduced from the wire-cut.
The scene where Jason hits a cop in the head with a hammer was cut to non-bloody.
Scott's throats-lit was toned down from the bloodflow.
Graphic close-up on Mark's machete-hit face is cut out.
The scene where Jason impales the love-making couple with a spear was originally longer; it showed the spear actually being stabbed in the boy's back, while the girl screamed.

Friday the 13th Part 3 (1982) Cut R Rated Theatrical Version
The following scenes were cut in the US to obtain an R rating instead of an X:
[Show spoiler]The death scene of Andy showed his right leg and stomach being cut apart.
Vera's death was longer, it included more blood and a shot of her reaction. It was cut because the board said that it looked too real.
Edna's death was cut of excess blood.
The impaling of Chili with the hot poker was cut. Originally, the impalement was shown, along with a splash of smoldering blood.
Debbie's death originally showed blood spraying across her upper half and face.

There's no sign of the cuts being restored, so for the moment this is the best available version

Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) 'Extended Version'
(using the Italian theatrical version as its basis and adding the grotto scene that was present in the preview versions)
US kino BD has both Theatrical Cut (see notes) (162:53) and the 2003 Extended Cut (178:55)
Note
[Show spoiler] Both kino versions are derived from 4K masters and feature newly restored original 2.0 mono audio. (and 5.1)
and different colours to MGM 4k re-master (some MGM UK/US(remaster) have orig mono)

Note
[Show spoiler] The theatrical version is based on the the "theatrical version" from the 1998 MGM DVD in which an Italian source was partially used and as a result,
there are both missing shots and have shots that do not actually belong because they are from the Italian Version.
However, the theatrical version features the restored original 1967 UA Logo.

Guilty Of Romance (2011) International Version 113:10s
US BD has both versions Extended Version 144:46s

The Guyver (1991) Director's Cut missing 3 scenes of gore/blood
The German release from DigiDreams Studios includes the three moments of gore missing from most versions of the film,
Note - German has lossy Dolby Digital, the UK release has lossless 5.1 and 2.0 audio.
[Show spoiler]When zoanoid Lisker crushes zoanoid Segawa's head, blood is shown gushing onto the ground in the VHS version. The "director's cut" has a very slightly shorter version showing a shot of zoanoid Segawa on his knees with no blood.
When the guyver kills the snake-headed zoanoid, the VHS version shows him getting his arm ripped off and his neck snapped with blood splatter. The "director's cut" edits this out in favor of a cheap insert shot of the other zoanoids looking on.
When the guyver slashes zoanoid Weber, the VHS version shows blood splattering across her face and Misky's. The "director's cut" cuts away to a cheap close-up of zoanoid Striker looking on.

In the US there is an R rated Director's Cut 4 disc DVD which adds approx 9 minutes
[Show spoiler]The main attack footage is more graphic.
When people are blown out of sand bag barricades instead of whole bodies you see bloody limbs and torsos go flying.
Also during the film's many strafing scenes we now see huge chunks of meat and body parts being blown off the falling people.
If you look closely during the "nurse strafing" scene, when Evelyn (Kate Beckinsale) and Sandra (Jennifer Garner) are ducking down by the fountain,
you can see a man get cut in half by the 20mm rounds coming from the strafing Zeros.
There are several new scenes on Battleship Row where we see sailors on fire, getting shot, and brutally dismembered by shrapnel.
This includes a extremely graphic shot of a severed head.
The scene with Miller ('Cuba Gooding Jr' ) and Capt. Bennion (Peter Firth) now includes a brutal shot of Bennion moaning and crying as he holds his intestines in his hands.
We also see Miller try to put them back in his stomach.
The hospital scenes now include graphic shots of battlefield surgery and amputations, as well as close-up shots of severed limbs laying on the floor.
New non-graphic shots throughout the attack basically making it longer and more complete.
Dialogue during the attack includes more profanity.

Pompeii 2014 Pre-Cut

Jigsaw has a few extra lines of dialogue with Detective Matthews, mentioning that he has wiped the slate clean , and that most people are merely sleepwalking .
When Obi is trapped in the oven, he attempts to break the glass on the far side as he is burning alive.

Tombstone (1993) Theatrical Cut
The Director's Cut restores about nine minutes of uncontentious footage.
[Show spoiler]The most noticeable are:
a scene showing the depths of Mattie's addiction to laudanum and her jealousy over Josephine
a sombre soliloquy by Doc quoting Kublai Khan;
a scene explaining Kate's sudden disappearance from the film, with Doc stressing the importance of friendship;
a scene with McMasters and the Cowboys meeting one last time.
A small scene showing the graphic result of that meeting has been re-inserted with the line "They got McMasters!" being moved into this small insert

The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie (1989) Director approved Theatrical Rated Version
US DVD was The Unrated Director's Cut
The director approved Theatrical Version was cut for an R rating by 1:08s violent footage
[Show spoiler]88 Films have said that they got the HD print from Troma in the USA, and that the version they and 88 Films released on Blu-Ray, is Lloyd Kaufman's preferred Director's Cut of the film, and it is alleged, Kaufman says that the missing gore was never meant to be included ! (Hmmmmm! Really?)
Sadly, it's missing a fair bit of violence, mostly from the opening sequence The cuts noted are:
someone having a broom handle, shoved through their head, and once through the head, the head is then forcibly separated from the body
someone having their intestines removed, and being strangled with them
a scene featuring someone having their hand and fingers squashed in a videocassette-deck
And according to someone else, the UK audio commentary goes off-kilter and out-of-sync with what's on-screen, for about 20 seconds too.

Unrated Version features 2 extra plot scenes and 2 extra violent shots adding up to about 5 minutes extra.
