I just watched the first two episode of "The End is Nye," obviously with Bill Nye as the Host. Co-Created and Co-Written by the likes of Seth MacFarlane and Brannon Braga and others. It was choice.
Judging by the first 2 episodes, “The End is Nye,” is a fantastic series. It’s really dramatic and scary and has some pretty awesome Graphics and Effects - State of the Art, in fact, and Bill is incredibly charming and funny too. In that way he’s got Carl Sagan, Joe Campbell, David Attenborough and Brian Cox all beat to hell. By far the most terrifying and educating fun I've ever had with Science. I see lots of Blu-Ray Boots of his different series out there, but as far as I can tell, "Bill Nye: The Science Guy" is the only Bill Nye Blu-Ray on the market. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Bill-...lu-ray/198361/ So... I'm curious what anyone knows? |

Enjoyed his 90s PBS show. Apparently he was a legit engineer who transitioned to an inspiring comedy career and then to tv science educator. An early look into his Science Guy persona was during the live-action segments of the Back to the Future animated series. It's probably tough to make educational science programming interesting for general audiences and he arguably did a great job in that role. Also enjoyed Mr. Wizard, though it was a tad before my time and I can barely remember the show. Also can't really recall Beakman's World.

Oh wait... I guess I'm getting paranoid in my old age... I was writing two (2) little thangs; One being this bit on the Bell Labs Science, and the other being a review for "The End is Nye," that I was gonna post on my FB page... sigh... my bad. But interesting that we were sorta in the same place.

I guess Dizzy is not much into Physical media these days, so we'll likely never see it. All of the seasons are available in "The Usual Places," but they're all H265 and my Blu-ray and PS4 play DATA but not H265... sigh. I need to get a nice DVD/Blu-Ray/4k Player that plays All Region and DATA including H265. I just noticed Dizzy's "deal" here: The Complete Series for $1,499. I thought that was a joke at first. |

It seems someone upscaled these and put them all up on YT at some point in the somewhat recent past. A friend of mine collected them and now... ta-daaaa... I can watch them. They're all H265 so a lot of DVD/Blu-Ray/4K players won't play them... but there is, of course, Handbrake. : )
I wonder if "The End is Nye" will eventually be released on Blu? I really dug it. Last edited by albabe; 05-30-2025 at 01:51 AM. |

I like how they say you can buy the entire series for just $1,499. That's quite a huge price. I mean, how much did it cost to make a single episode? If you make something cheap, pass the savings onto the consumer.

$500 is a lot. It's just overpriced for what they were offering. Hence why they later marked them down to $5 a pop.
Anyone remember Star Trek on VHS? Two episodes per tape, $20 per tape. And that was late 80's money. Phewww. |

None of my teachers were ever hungover. But I still saw a few Bill Nye episodes during my K-12 school years. I watched the show on a regular basis when it came on at 5:30 PM on weekdays where I lived, so every time my teachers used a Bill Nye episode in class, I had already seen it. I recorded twelve Bill Nye episodes on a six-hour VHS cassette, and I still have his Up-Close-Ifier.
There are lots of people who say "Words Have Power", but the truth is, there are many times in life when your words don't have power. You can't believe everything you read or hear and you can't expect everyone to believe everything you write or say. Some things must be seen to believed or understood. Ideally, every science teacher could teach their lessons by doing experiments or in-class demonstrations, but not all schools have a lot of money to throw around. |
