Had this in the other thread, but thank you for giving it it's own! This is part of my childhood and I'm sooooo happy it's being released finally. I saw that France and Canada was getting it and was worried I'd have to import. Now I don't have to!!! Day 1 buy! I loved that this had a darker tone to it, not like the wimpy children fluff flicks made today.

There was something quite sinister about the experimenting and mysterious about the back story of the rats of NIMH and Jonathon's heroic death. Then there was the wise yet menacing Great Owl and the treacherous Jenner is an awesome villain! The final fight too, I must say is one of the best fights in an animated film because it's staged not as an animated fight but as it would be with any live action fight. And Goldsmith's score is just epic! Ooooh, I'm getting myself all excited!!

First , Dark Crystal then Labyrinth...Now the only other ones left from my childhood days is Return to Oz and the Muppet movies (up to Treasure Island ONLY), man do I want those on blu! I'm 27 but my inner little girl is doing "Skip-It" (anyone else remember that?) inside me right now!!!

Another enchanting, animated classic I enjoyed as a youngster. I remember when I was even younger than this, one of my elementary teachers read the book the movie is based on to the class. The story never left me.

Great voiceover work by Dom DeLuise, John Carradine and a very young Shannen Dougherty.

Will definitely be picking this one up to replace my DVD.

We had it read in school too. Afterwards we watched the movie! I should re-read it now..it's been near 18 years probably!

This is amazing news... I wonder why they're releasing so many Don Bluth movies now? There's Anastasia too. I would've expected NIMH to come out whenever the new live-action adaptation comes out in cinemas.

Definitely NOT a purchase for me. I did not like this film at all, even though I am a huge fan of animation. I thought the plot was overblown and did not work because of how much it had in it that was not well explained or utilized.

Definitely a wait and see on reviews for me. This film has been so mangled over the years with FF and dirty prints and transfers that I'm expecting to be blown away with a great print and some great extras.

Still, I would love to see this on the big screen again. It really was, ironically enough, the film that saved Disney by giving them a swift kick of competition and got them to stop making crappy phoned in attempts like The Fox and the Hound and Robin Hood and got the teams together to make the second golden age of animated films.

I wish the cover art was a bit more "dark" like the original movie poster. Although they probably want this to appeal more to kids then a 29 year old man who watched this when he was young.
