Oliver Hirschbiegel’s long-gestating gangster project Das Engelsgesicht (The Angel Face) will finally come to light this year. The project sees Moritz Bleibtreu star as German mafia hitman Giorgio Basile, aka “Angel Face,” who was connected to the Calabrian ‘Ndrangheta crime syndicate and became a state witness against the Italian mafia in 1998. Christian Limmer writes the script based on Andreas Ulrich’s novel of the same name. Given this was a project that Downfall director Hirschbiegel first boarded in 2008, this will be the year audiences discover if it’s worth the wait. [source]
