I will give it a shot. I love the first nine seasons and the first movie. That is the X-Files for me and what I watch over and over. I do hope they cast a black Scully, Latino Skinner and have the Cigarette Smoking Woman being Chinese just for the online meltdowns.

With the current political climate there are endless stories that could be done.

Honestly sounds fine to me. I'd just prefer it to not be "Black Mulder and Latina Scully" but rather completely new characters, with the originals popping up as supporting cameos. There's a LOT you can do in todays political conspiracy climate, especially if you actually do branch out with non-white main cast members.

It's also clear that Chris Carter is never really going to provide finality to the series, so screw it. Do something new.

I was a casual fan of the original show, mainly from curiosity more than anything else. This could work, but I don't like the idea of them inserting identity politics into the mythology.

oh boy! no recasting mulder and scully, it's an impossible task. Do something new (with new characters) or don't do it at all.

It’s my favorite show of all time, but I tend to think that would be best, just a complete reboot. It already got that legacy revival, the mythology was clearly running out of gas at the end (and season 11’s ending at least kinda wrapped things up, albeit with some open questions, unlike 9 and 10 ending on full cliffhangers), and the whole mess of the show’s canon and history would be an impediment to finding a new audience.

That's silly talk... I think it's safe to assume changing Mulder & Scully to something they are not would not be received well. That sorta thing needs to stop or your show is dead in the water before it gets started.
